Ruth A. Lawrence, MD, an internationally recognized pioneer in breastfeeding medicine and toxicology and a longtime University pediatrician, has died at the age of 101. Over seven decades at URMC, she advanced breastfeeding from the fringes of medicine to an essential part of clinical care and scholarship, authoring the landmark Breastfeeding: A Guide for the Medical Profession and founding the Breastfeeding and Human Lactation Study Center. Her mentorship and advocacy shaped generations of clinicians and led to the creation of URMC’s Division of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine, which continues her enduring legacy. https://lnkd.in/eZUaDjUx
