Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the 2nd Annual Conference of the Recyclers Association of Nigeria (RAN), and it was an incredible experience. As someone still learning the ropes in Nigeria’s waste management and recycling industry, this event was both eye-opening and inspiring. It provided great exposure to the issues that Ifunanya Care Initiative(ICI) is dedicated to solving, from environmental education to behavioral change around waste practices. I had the chance to connect with industry experts and stakeholders who have made significant strides in this field. It was an absolute pleasure to meet: Rita Idehai, the immediate past RAN President — your leadership journey is so inspiring. Thank you for the warmth and encouragement. Hon. Terseer Ugbor, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Environment — a true expert in the recycling space. Adeleye ODEBUNMI CEO of Pakam Technology — a truly humble and visionary leader. Franklin Nwaribe.. MBA, MIPMA, CHRP, MCIHRM and his team from Technoserve — thank you for being consistent guides on this learning journey. Chinwe Obi Obi (Sustainability Manager, Nestlé Nigeria PLC) and Amaka Onyemelukwe (Senior Director, Coca-Cola Nigeria Ltd) — your insights on sustainability, systems building, and your encouragement were truly valuable and energizing. It was also exciting to see how initiatives like the HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND YOU (HEY) project align with Ifunanya Care Initiative’s program strategy, particularly in shifting young people’s mindsets about waste through education, community engagement, and behavioral change. These parallels affirmed that we’re building in the right direction. This event wasn’t just about learning, it was a networking ground across multiple sectors, and a huge learning moment for me as a growing leader. I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity. Thank you, Recyclers Association of Nigeria (RAN) for hosting such a purposeful gathering. I’m excited about what the future holds!
