Viega Group’s Post

The European construction industry faces a critical knowledge gap 82% of German construction companies lack the necessary knowledge to unlock digitalisation's potential. Yet digitalisation serves as a crucial lever for sustainability, and it's urgently needed, as the numbers reveal: buildings account for 40% of energy use in the EU. Building Information Modelling (BIM) can play a decisive role here. BIM doesn't just make planning, construction, and building maintenance more efficient, it also makes them more resource-efficient. Nevertheless, nearly half of European public organisations have still not implemented their BIM strategy. In Germany, only one in every ten surveyed construction companies actually uses BIM, despite two-thirds recognising its potential as very high or quite high. This is where Viega steps in as an enabler: as an industry innovation leader, we don't just advance technical solutions, we build knowledge and expertise. Our Viega World seminar centre demonstrates how digital construction works as a real-world best practice example, having been built using BIM itself🏗️ But also through comprehensive training programmes for apprentices and skilled workers, partnerships with universities and vocational schools, we're not only developing the BIM skills that are desperately needed, but we’re also strengthening the digital competence of the entire construction industry. The future requires more than strategies: it demands implementation. #viega #bim #digitalization
