As humanoid robots continue moving closer to real-world and home applications, the materials used in their design are becoming just as important as their software and intelligence. One interesting approach is the use of microfiber materials flexible, lightweight, and capable of providing a more natural and tactile surface that mimics human-like interaction. These materials could play a key role in improving safety, comfort, and adaptability when robots share physical spaces with people. Still, it raises an open question are microfibers the most practical long-term solution, or could we see alternative materials (like smart polymers, soft silicones, or fabric composites) offering better performance in household environments? This little bot, known as "Zuri" by French creator Jonathan Cohen, uses a repurposed smartwatch as a face to display a stunning range of dynamic emotions.
