Last night’s opening of Move Ya Body: The Birth of House at DOC10 was something I’ll carry with me forever. To see a sold-out theater moved by the story of how we — a group of dreamers, DJs, dancers, and producers from Chicago — helped spark a global movement... it’s overwhelming in the best way. Elegance Bratton captured more than just beats and basslines — he honored the people, places, and spirit behind House Music. This film doesn’t just document a genre. It celebrates community, resilience, and what’s possible when Black and queer creatives build something beautiful together, even when the world isn't watching. Hearing laughter, applause, and even a few tears reminded me why we told this story in the first place. I’m deeply grateful to DOC10 for the platform, to the cast and crew who gave their full selves, and to everyone who showed up and showed love. Especially my wife, Tara — thank you for holding it all down. If you get a chance to see Move Ya Body on its festival journey, I hope it hits you like it hit us last night. #HouseMusic40 #MoveYaBody #DOC10 #ChicagoProud #BlackMusicMatters #TheBirthOfHouse #EleganceBratton #CulturalLegacy #FromTheBasementToTheWorld
