Backups only matter if they work. Plenty of small businesses think they’re backed up until they try to restore something and it fails. Once a month, take five minutes to: - Open your backup system - Restore a random file or folder - Make sure it opens properly That small check could save you days or weeks of downtime if something goes wrong. #DataBackup #BusinessContinuity #SmallBusinessIT #CyberResilience

Most small business owners I meet aren’t short on effort - they’re short on clarity. Here are five simple ways to reclaim time every week: Write down your repeat tasks ✍ If you find yourself saying “I do this every day,” it’s a sign something could be automated or systemised. Centralise your info 🎯 When your team keeps one version of the truth, you stop wasting hours hunting for the latest spreadsheet. Batch your admin ⏲️ Set one block of time for invoicing, quoting or emails - context switching kills momentum more than we realise. Use your tools properly 🔥 Most businesses use only a fraction of what their software can do. A small setup tweak often saves more time. Fix the real bottleneck 😬 If your processes rely on memory or manual data entry, they’ll keep leaking time. Build systems that do the remembering for you. Time saved is energy regained - and that’s what fuels growth, not longer hours. Who has seen this before? Someone builds a quick Access database or a spreadsheet to fill a gap...and five years later, that “temporary fix” is running half the organization. The "shadow system" has become THE SYSTEM. At that point, turning it off would cause chaos. But keeping it running creates a quiet kind of risk: data drift, security gaps, single points of failure, and teams who no longer trust the “official” numbers. The fix isn’t to get frustrated or shut it down. Try to understand why it worked in the first place. Those tools are feedback. They show where your big systems fell short of how work really happens. Modernization that ignores them just repeats the same mistakes with newer software. The real trick is learning from them, and rebuilding with respect for the ingenuity that kept the work going all along. I wrote about this in more depth here: https://lnkd.in/gVYJMq8B #DigitalTransformation #DataStrategy #Leadership #PublicSector #IntegrationArchitects

What Clients Really Pay For 💡 It’s not just the technical work. It’s trust — that you’ll deliver. It’s results — that actually move the needle. Most clients don’t care about how advanced your tools are, or how many hours you spent on the project. They care about one thing: Can you make their life easier and their business better? At the end of the day, they’re not buying a service. They’re buying confidence that you’ll get it done.
