*Trust the signal, not the noise* PwC's 2025 Global Sustainability Reporting Survey, finds that most companies continue advancing their reporting under CSRD and ISSB frameworks despite regulatory adjustments. Over two-thirds of companies now use sustainability insights to guide business decisions, risk management, and supply chain planning. This shift is driven by three main factors: 1. Rising Stakeholder Pressure: Increased demand for transparency from investors, customers, and employees. 2. Growing Tech Investment: Companies are adopting new technologies to improve data collection and analysis. 3. Stronger Leadership Engagement: Senior leaders are more involved in sustainability initiatives. Thanks Antonio Vizcaya Abdo for highlighting this. EFRAG has published a report summarising their “Sustainability Reporting Standards for SMEs - What are the issues?” symposium, co-hosted with the Organismo Italiano di Contabilità (OIC) at the 47th Annual Congress of the EAA - European Accounting Association in May of this year. We took a look at the report to bring your our key takeaways that all SMEs should know: - Sustainability reporting is about more than compliance. It can also help SMEs to embed sustainability into all aspects of their business, improve overall performance, and aid in winning tenders and new business. - Many SMEs that have not started reporting are still taking sustainable actions. The issue isn’t a lack of action, it is a lack of knowledge. This knowledge gap needs to be bridged for SMEs to participate fully in reporting. - The VSME can be a very powerful tool for compliance and comparability, if it is used uniformly across the EU. - Banks and large companies can support the SMEs in their supply chain on their sustainability journeys through knowledge sharing, being clear on their own sustainability priorities, and reducing complexity in reporting requests. - Centering action in your organisation is still key to your sustainability progress but adding a monitoring and reporting procedure can help you to further your overall business and sustainability strategies. If you would like to learn more about this interesting symposium and what the expert panelists shared, you can read EFRAG’s report here: https://lnkd.in/dn2xBN7C

PwC’s latest Global Sustainability Reporting Survey 2025 has been released — it is based on responses from 496 companies worldwide — and the message is clear: sustainability reporting is no longer an option; it’s becoming a business imperative. Some of the key takeaways: • Growing global regulation (CSRD, ISSB etc.) pushing companies to formalize ESG disclosures. • Beyond compliance: firms that integrate ESG well are seeing real value — better risk management, stakeholder trust, innovation. • Technology & data aren’t “nice to have” — they’re central to extracting credible insights and reporting accurately. India is seeing momentum too. Many companies are going beyond mandatory norms and ESG is increasingly part of strategy, not just reporting. This is a clear signal for action: strengthen data systems, get leadership on board, and make sustainability core to business purpose, not just disclosure. https://lnkd.in/gUHf9hEH #ESG #Sustainability #Reporting #BusinessValue #India

PwC’s Global Sustainability Reporting Survey 2025 From insight to value: The latest survey brings out certain important insights: Despite some regulatory pull-backs, more than 50% of the companies said that pressure to share sustainability data has increased, not decreased and so has investment in resources and senior leadership time. 70% of the companies said they gained significant or moderate value, beyond mere compliance, extending into strategy, supply chain, workforce, investor engagement and risk management. In retrospect more effective use of technology/software and earlier validation of data would have improved the reporting process. Use of AI for sustainability reporting almost tripled to 28%, from 11% last year. #sustainabilityreporting #sustainabilityassurance #brsr #esg
