My Experience at the “Fully Funded Pilot Training” Event in Dublin Last weekend, I attended the Pilot Careers Live event at the Convention Centre Dublin, following Wizz Air’s online advert claiming they were offering fully funded pilot training programmes for aspiring or career-changing individuals. I registered with €20 and covered other personal expenses, eager to explore a genuine opportunity to transition into aviation. Unfortunately, upon arrival, I discovered that no such funded program currently exists. When I approached the Wizz Air representatives directly, they admitted the information had gone out “too early” and was still under discussion. Frankly, it felt misleading and disappointing. Many hopeful individuals attended in good faith, only to find out that the promise of “free training” was not real — possibly just a strategy to drive attendance and ticket sales. I believe transparency matters, especially in industries built on trust, precision, and safety. Advertisements like this do not just waste people’s time and resources — they undermine confidence in aviation recruitment altogether. Verify opportunities carefully before committing your time or money. Passion should never be taken advantage of.
