The top-performing nations on clean energy are well-known - but what about the planet’s biggest innovators? From an Asian powerhouse that builds 70% of the world’s electric cars to a budding bioethanol leader in Latin America, here are 3 of the planet’s most innovative countries when it comes to #decarbonizing energy. The World Economic Forum has published its annual ranking of national #energytransition efforts - from policy to investment, innovation and social equity. Where does your country place? As a proud South American and energy advocate, I’m thrilled to see Brazil 🇧🇷 leading Latin America with innovative clean energy solutions on the World Economic Forum’s 2025 Energy Transition Index! 💛💙 💛💙 Brazil’s breakthroughs in biofuels and sustainable energy show how emerging markets are shaping the future of clean energy globally. This is powerful proof that innovation and commitment can drive real change for our communities and the planet. 🌍

Abundance makes waste. Canada is making some progress towards decarbonizing but has the highest per capita energy consumption rate in the world. Everywhere I go I see energy and other resources being wasted because of neglect and/or bad design. I also see ways of reducing consumption just passing by or from a news stories.

The Brazilian clean energy matrix is, so far, the best among the three, balancing hydro, solar, wind, bio-diesel and ethanol. Researches on green hydrogen are in course also, complementing the future options. Of course, the countries have different and singular characteristics that can help or difficult the pursuit to the best options in energy facing our urgent need to diminish the CO2e emissions. Although none of them presents just good examples to follow, considering the burning of fossil fuel continuity in some sectors and its exploration in environmental sensible regions, the societies, globally, must press for the better among the available alternatives due to the risks associated with the elevation of the planet temperature beyond 1.5oC. 🤲🌎🤲 Thanks for sharing, World Economic Forum team.

Brazil is No.3? Somewhat surprising but good for them. Thanks for sharing.

Despite the controversies around biofuel, Brazil's electricity matrix is dominated by renewable energy sources. Large hydropower plants account for around 80% of domestic electricity generation, making the Brazilian electricity mix one of the cleanest in the world.
