5moArmis, thanks for bringing the report to my attention. I started reading it and have very insightful perspectives. I still believe cybercriminals and state-sponsored groups are not fully exploring or transitioning to using AI in their attacks. They are still leveraging the tremendous amount of “low-hanging fruit” like misconfigurations, unpatched systems, many available exposed credentials or secrets, IoT devices with zero or little protection, a lack of effective visibility and observability in the network, etc. Maybe phishing or malware generations are being accelerated with AI. In the near future, criminals will leverage AI for more sophisticated and pervasive attacks. One of the most worrisome use cases would be using AI for vulnerability recognition. Scanning the internet to identify organizations with easier-to-exploit security gaps will help them reduce the effort and time needed to breach environments.
