Celebrating Women at Sisense

In honor of Women's History Month, we are celebrating the incredible women of Sisense who continue to pave the way for leadership, innovation, and empowerment within the tech industry.

We asked some of our inspiring women leaders to share their career stories and offer advice to women aspiring to reach new heights in their professional journeys.

Today we want to introduce you to Dina Apostolou our Senior Vice President of Marketing!

Hi Dina! Can you share a bit about your career journey and what led you to your current leadership role?

Over the past two decades, I’ve built a career at the intersection of product, marketing, and customer success—bringing cloud products to market through cross-functional collaboration and customer-centric storytelling. At Microsoft , I led high-performing marketing teams across a range of SaaS categories, including CRM, CX, AI, Mixed Reality, and CMS. I helped shape Microsoft’s first go-to-market motion with LinkedIn post-acquisition and co-led our joint offering with Adobe Those formative years taught me the value of aligning deeply with both engineering and sales to drive business outcomes.

Transitioning to startup life, I spearheaded multiple marketing functions end to end—at both Contentful and now at Sisense —developing scalable strategies that aligned product teams with market opportunities and GTM execution.

These experiences have tapped into my strengths, broadened my perspective, and reinforced the values I lead with: a commitment to developing others, building trust, and leading by example—whether that means delivering main stage demos, serving as a media spokesperson, or facilitating executive forums. 

I'm starting to see how Sisense values inclusivity, especially regarding women. Could you elaborate on some of the specific ways they're doing this?

Sisense demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting and empowering women through various initiatives:

• Leadership Representation: Women constitute 60% of the leadership team at Sisense, reflecting the company's dedication to gender diversity in senior roles. This was an important factor as I evaluated roles in the C-suite. 
• Employee Resource Groups (ERGs): The #WomenAtSisense ERG offers a platform for women to share experiences, provide mutual support, and engage in professional development activities.
• Flexible Work Policies: Sisense promotes work-life balance through flexible work arrangements, enabling employees to manage personal and professional responsibilities effectively.
• Comprehensive Benefits: The company provides benefits tailored to support women's needs, including fertility treatment support and parental leave policies, fostering a family-friendly work environment.

These initiatives collectively create an inclusive culture where women are empowered to thrive and advance in their careers.

What advice would you give to women aspiring to reach leadership positions?

For women aiming for leadership roles, consider the following:

• Build Strong Relationships: Cultivate a network of mentors, peers, and advocates who can offer guidance, support, and opportunities.
• Seek Diverse Experiences: Embrace roles and projects that challenge you and broaden your skill set, preparing you for leadership responsibilities.
• Lead with Confidence: Take initiative and demonstrate leadership qualities in your current role, showcasing your readiness for advancement.
• Prioritize Continuous Learning: Stay informed about industry trends and invest in personal and professional development to enhance your expertise.
• Align with your values/principles: Choose to work with companies that prioritize what matters to you – be it diversity and inclusion, providing a conducive environment for growth or your personal philosophy. This can be a helpful guiding light or criteria or  (embracing happiness through family, trust, and meaningful work) can guide you toward fulfilling leadership roles.
