Check out the improvements in Octopus based on your feedback
We're always listening to your feedback to improve Octopus. This month, those improvements include live versus desired diffs with Kubernetes Live Object Status, migration for version-controlled projects, and license usage notifications. We also take you behind the scenes designing Kubernetes Live Object Status. Kirsten talks about the thinking and challenges in bringing this feature to life, and how some unexpected discoveries shaped our choices.
Read on for more.
Live versus desired diffs: now possible with Kubernetes Live Object Status
You told us it was hard to understand why an object might be out of sync, so we’ve made it easier. You can now compare the applied (desired) and live (currently running) manifests for any Kubernetes object directly in Octopus. Just click on the object on the Live Status page and head to the Manifests tab to see what’s changed. We also updated how Octopus displays the 'out of sync' status. It’s now in the object drawer, rather than on dashboards for the whole application by default. If you prefer it on the dashboard, you can re-enable it in the project settings. This improvement is available now for Octopus Cloud customers. We’re also working hard to bring Kubernetes Live Object Status to our self-hosted customers. Stay tuned! Want to help us shape what’s next? Hit the ‘Give Feedback’ button on the Live Status page in Octopus. Your feedback truly makes a difference.

Argo CD in Octopus: join the private beta
We’re building an integration between Argo CD and Octopus, and we’d love your input. If you’d like to see early designs and help shape this experience, we’re looking for a few early access customers to join our private beta. Bonus: you’ll get a front-row seat to try the integration before anyone else.

How we designed Kubernetes Live Object Status
What does it take to bring real-time Kubernetes insights into a CD tool? How do you make it intuitive for newcomers and powerful enough for experienced platform engineers? In her blog post, Kirsten Schwarzer, Lead Designer on the Kubernetes Live Object Status project, shares the thinking, design principles, and challenges behind one of our most ambitious Kubernetes features yet.
Migration for version-controlled projects
Our Export/Import Projects feature can export one or more projects into a zip file, which you can then import into other spaces. This feature now supports version-controlled projects, and includes Git credentials in the export data.
Notifications for license usage
Our Subscriptions tool lets you subscribe to events in Octopus. We’ve now added license usage as an event type, so you can get warnings when your billable resources are nearing their limit.
Small improvements
We're continually improving Octopus, from squashing bugs to enhancing features. Here are some of the latest small but impactful improvements:
The Octopus CLI:Includes progress logging for the task wait command.Supports overriding a deployment freeze.
You can now configure the AWS region for an S3 bucket feed.
Release preview now always shows the latest deployed release.
You’ll get fewer unnecessary errors as triggers no longer run for deactivated projects.
KubeCon Japan
Join us at KubeCon Japan in Tokyo, June 16–17. Octopus is sponsoring a booth, and we’d love to see you if you'll be there! Learn more ➔
