2025 Highlights

South Africa’s Public Investment Corporation (PIC) becomes Africa50’s 36th shareholder with a US$40 million investment

Public Investment Corporation (PIC), representing the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) of South Africa, Africa’s largest public pension fund, becomes Africa50’s 36th shareholder. The milestone marks a significant boost to Africa50’s mission to harness diverse sources of African capital such as institutional investors to drive infrastructure development across the continent.

Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), International Solar Alliance (ISA) and Africa50 unveil US$500 million Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) Nigeria Fund

The Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) Nigeria Fund is the largest of its kind in Africa, and the first country-focused DRE fund established under the DRE Africa Platform. This flagship initiative will develop and invest in distributed renewable projects across Africa. The DRE NigeriaFund was launched at the SEforALL Global Forum in Barbados on 12 March 2025.
