As we move through the year, we don't slow down! Across the globe we continue to push our commitment to net zero with every opportunity. Canberra Airport was awarded Level 4 status under the Airport Carbon Accreditation program by Airports Council International, and we appointed seven new partners across the business. Katie Roberts , Nandini Phadnis , Laura Cantwell , and Ankita Gurav were also selected to participate in the Property Council of Australia's 500 Women in Property program!

It's also been a triumphant month for award wins. From Construction Consultancy of the Year at the Construction News Awards to the Seafield Masterplan winning the Regeneration and Masterplanning category at the Scottish Design Awards , we are always grateful when the hard work of our engineers is recognised.

It's been a busy month, and we're excited to share everything we've been up to with you.

Project of the month

Set across 8,300sqm over two-storeys, Public Sector Data Centre enables highly secure and energy-efficient data management. Allowing public services to operate sustainably and efficiently was not only important to our client, but also important to us and our Dublin data centre team, as they created a design which met Tier III requirements.

To find out how we were able to cool the data halls and provide electrical power distribution across the site, read here: Public Sector Data Centre - Projects - Cundall

Blog of the month

As building health credentials come under increasing scrutiny from tenants and investors, indoor air quality (IAQ) presents an opportunity to make real positive change for building occupiers, offering a way for people to be healthier for having spent time indoors, especially in areas with compromised outdoor air quality. Mick Reilly suggests the way forward by improving smart building’s IAQ responsivity.

What to watch

Introduced as part of the UAE’s commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050, the Federal Climate Law mandates the measuring, monitoring and reporting of emissions produced by both public and private sectors. Mario Saab and Shahana Sayed sat down to discuss the impact of this new legislation, and what it means for our industry.

Cundall in the press

July has seen high quality thought leadership from our people globally. Speaking on EU taxonomy for Property Week, Simon Wyatt discusses the importance of developers looking ahead of current regulations and taking into account future changes to the existing EU taxonomy and the yet to come UK taxonomy when planning projects with ESG targets. In a different industry, Alec Stewart lays out his analysis of the German Energy Efficiency Act, asking whether the act is balanced and viable for data centres in the current age of AI, whilst praising the horizon gazing approach. Similarly, sustainability motivated is the news shared by MEP Middle East regarding Cundall’s partnership with Msheireb, launching Qatar’s first major science-based decarbonisation drive, including Msheireb’s entire Downtown Doha portfolio.

Meanwhile, Rastislav [Rasti] Bartek and Vera Sehlstedt  report in Concrete Magazine on a recent research project the Canopy, undertaken alongside the University of Loughborough. The project utilises cutting-edge hybrid 3D concrete printing (h-3DCP), a combination of additive 3D concrete printing and subtractive CNC milling, to create a structure that explores assembly and disassembly of complex geometries with functional features such as electrical conduits and rainwater collection.

Looking forward
