Our Riyadh team celebrating their new office!

In conversation with Cundall

This May, we see seasons changing and the business continuing to expand and innovate as always. This month held celebrations of excellence, campaigns pushing for acceptance and recognition of cultural differences, and milestones to be proud of from around the world. Our Riyadh team marked two years of growth with the opening of a new office, while on the other side of the globe we proudly opened Season 2 of SPACE 's ‘The Changing Workplace’ podcast, with Alejandro Mar Morales and Lucia Savastano discussing Edinburgh office’s circular economy principles. Some of our team travelled to UKREiiF in Leeds and the BCO Annual Conference in Milan to host a range of networking events and share in various industry-leading panels, and David Collins spoke at the Global Property Congress 2025 in Sydney on the strategic vision for global infrastructure. Our London project for GSK HQ earned the prestigious ‘Innovation’ award at the BCO Awards, and we were shortlisted in three categories at the Fire and Security Matters Awards, highlighting our continued excellence in safety and innovation.  We also launched the ‘Culture Talks’ video campaign, reinforcing our commitment to inclusive leadership and sharing insights from a range of backgrounds and experience levels. Lots to unpack, so thank you for coming along for the journey!

Project of the month

At the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town Conservation Area, 24-25 St Andrew Square is a striking example of how heritage and sustainability can coexist. This complete refurbishment and extension of two historic properties - part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site - has transformed the space into a high-performance, future-ready workplace. With the square itself dating back to the 1770’s, this project demonstrates how thoughtful engineering can unlock the potential of historic buildings while meeting modern sustainability standards.

Blog of the month

As cities continue to prioritise compact growth plans, mixed-use developments are key to sustainable urban renewal – but they bring acoustic challenges. This blog highlights the importance of early planning to ensure harmony between each component of the bustling urban landscape. Doing this, developers can avoid costly retrofits and create vibrant, liveable neighbourhoods where people can work, live, and play without conflict or sensory assault.

What to watch

Inspired by the insights of Erin Meyer, author of The Culture Map, this month has seen the launch of our Culture Talks series. Olga Litkovets sat down with leaders from across the globe to discuss their journey, how they think their cultural experiences have shaped them as a leader, and to shine a spotlight on inclusive leadership. Speaking with a host of different individuals including Laila Al-Yousuf, Alina Gudunova, Samar Hussein, and Sarah Allen, with a sprinkle of our Cundall leaders, we share how teams spanning continents, time zones, and cultures, are key to unlocking to endless opportunities.

Cundall in the press

Our people have been busy over the last month, working across the globe and across disciplines to share industry insights.

In the MENA region, Construction Week Middle East has been in conversation with our engineers and consultants. Haytham Ayoub , Principal Sustainability Consultant, explored in his feature how Saudi Arabia’s mega-projects can integrate the same sustainability strategies into their portfolios, discussing the potential challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Faiyad Peterson , Country Director KSA, spoke on a similar topic in his blog, discussing his experience moving to Riyadh to open up the office over two years ago, promoting growth and accelerating the Cundall offering.

In the realm of data centres and AI, Jordan Mason , Associate Director, discusses in his Property Week article the necessity of life sciences companies investing in AI technology due to the rise of generative AI use in pharmaceutical development. Andrew Moore, Partner, has been featured by Intelligent CIO Europe and Intelligent Data Centres arguing against hydrogen as a silver bullet solution for the energy demands data centres are propelling, citing energy efficiency as the priority instead.
