In conversation with Cundall
We have been showcasing our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and leadership development in the past month, making strides with our people, awards, events and commitments. Our Bristol team has moved location, whilst Cundall itself has joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative, a voluntary initiative for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices. Sophie Simpson from our Edinburgh office has been made an Honorary Associate Professor at Heriot-Watt University, and we have seen an influx of exciting shortlists for our people and projects, including multiple categories each at the Structural Steel Design Awards, Education Estates Awards and MEP Middle East Awards 2025.
Meanwhile, many of our offices have been sharing insights into cutting-edge topics such as external CFD use in data centres, landfill tax implications, and new evacuation lift standards, continually pushing for relevant and valuable thought leadership to share with our clients and collaborators. With all manner of technical developments on the horizon, our people have been hard at work striving for the best our industry can achieve.
Project of the month
Australia’s first 3D printed duplex, Contour3D, blends cutting-edge construction with expressive lighting design. Each unit tells a different story - one sculptural and fluid, the other bold and angular. With sustainability at its core and a 7.9 Star BASIX rating, this project invites you to explore how design and technology converge.

Day in the life
Cundall in the press
This month has continued to showcase exceptional thought leadership from our team, including a feature in The New York Times. Simon Wyatt contributed insights on the rising summer temperatures in Britain and their impact on housing. In an article discussing how traditional British homes were designed for cooler climates and suggesting that retrofits may be necessary to adapt to changing conditions, he addressed the “inherent problem” of poor ventilation in many new-build homes, discussing how their design standards affect their performance in practice.
In Estates Gazette, Kevin McGee explored the growing influence of power demand on the UK real estate market. He noted that developers increasingly view access to power as a key determinant of land value, driven by institutional trends. Kevin also emphasized that while power is becoming more critical, other factors - such as location- continue to play a significant role in shaping land value.
Looking forward
