Early Bird Catches the Worm!
One of my favorite sayings! This phrase was first recorded in John Ray's A collection of English proverbs 1670. Birds do wake up early and at this time of year I often wonder why do Robins return to Minnesota so early? In fact, the ground is still frozen and worms are hibernating. For those of you who live in the South this may a novel observation.
A modern day translation - Success comes to those who prepare well and put in effort.
Feeling accomplished and satisfied with the balance of effort vs. results, creating a NEW routine can be very rewarding. As a "Morning Person" I find that what ever I choose to prioritize during the first three hours of my day tends to be most effective. Change can be refreshing and focusing on the desired accomplishments as opposed to a "To Do" list is a nice shift.
Learning about your own personal work style is important and creating a routine that reinforces your planned outcomes. Consistency is the "Key" and developing habits that maximize your efficiency times.
Many of you are adjusting to working from home with younger children. My children are older and the challenge of WIFI usage has been our adjustment. In a rural community our T1 line used to be sufficient, however with three people tasking on laptops, phones, and one XBOX- it is clearly reaching the limits. So using the early morning hours has been an effective way to resource our limited WIFI.
If you are an "Early Bird" or a "Night Owl" spend some time today reflecting on your most productive times. Try to create an outcome based plan this week and carry it into next week! Identify your highly effective time windows and create a new view this Spring and build a schedule that suits you.
If you have tips/ schedules that have been effective for you - please feel free to share!
Have a great week!!
