Empowering Progress: How Megan Inspires at Oakley
At Oakley, we’re committed to creating space for women to thrive—whether in our stores, on our teams, or across the communities we serve. We not only honor the progress made but also reaffirm our responsibility to keep breaking barriers, opening doors, and inspiring the next generation of women to lead.
In her four years at Oakley, Megan Leisinger, Senior Director of Marketing at Oakley Retail, has become a trailblazer within the brand, known for her creativity, bold vision, and ability to empower teams to think bigger. Her journey reflects both the strides we’ve made toward equality and the importance of lifting others along the way.
"Be authentically you and carry honesty, kindness, and mentorship with you always--because the impact you leave today may shape the women who lead tomorrow. I want to train the me of tomorrow!"
How do you champion other women to unlock their potential?
I believe in supporting people as individuals first. Understanding their unique strengths, motivations, and goals, and then creating space for them to thrive through creativity, empowerment, and ownership. While I don’t lead women differently from others, I do recognize that being a woman in sports and sport-driven brands can come with unique challenges. My own career has taught me that it’s about being authentic to who you are, while also knowing when to flex your voice and power. I champion women by modeling that balance, creating an environment where they feel both supported and emboldened to unlock their potential.
What’s one boundary you’ve pushed as a woman in your space?
One boundary I’ve pushed is proving that women can thrive and lead in spaces traditionally dominated by men, while staying true to the work I love. I’ve had the privilege of building my career with incredible brands—Nike, L’Oréal, EssilorLuxottica's Sport Hub with Oakley, Costa Del Mar, and Native brands and now, to focus solely on marketing for Oakley Retail is both a privilege and an energizing challenge. Being empowered by senior leadership to shape the future of Oakley Retail allows me to push boundaries on what retail can be, and that opportunity fuels me every day.
We learn from one another to lift each other up. What piece of advice would you give to someone looking to grow their career?
I’ve always been drawn to team sports, and that mindset has shaped how I lead. “There’s no ‘I’ in team” is more than a saying—it’s a principle that holds true every day in Oakley retail. Our stores and our corporate teams are in it together; we succeed because we support each other.
My advice? Find a team you believe in and then be the kind of teammate others can count on. At the same time, invest in your own growth. Being a great team player means building your skillset—whether you're on offense or defense. Don’t just plan for your next role—think ahead to the one after that. Ask yourself: What tools do I need to lead there? Start sharpening them now. Sometimes you need to be the backup pitcher before you’re called to the mound. But when that moment comes, be ready to deliver.
