#FutureDriven Rewind is back with a twist! While our previous weekly editions focused on all the exciting happenings at the Experience Centre, we’re switching things up. From now on, we’ll be delivering a monthly edition to help you catch up on all the latest news from ACEA. Stay tuned for all the updates and highlights! 

This edition features a brand-new ACEA president, an in-depth look at a year’s worth of van, truck, and bus registrations, plus an exciting new report on what’s cruising across European roads. 

Keeping It Brief: Policy insights in a nutshell 

Top CEOs from light and heavy-duty vehicle manufacturers joined European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to strengthen the global competitiveness of Europe’s automotive industry.    Manufacturers and suppliers emphasised the urgent need for action, pointing to the slower-than-expected adoption of zero-emission vehicles, and calling for stronger enabling conditions to speed up the transition to zero-emission mobility. 

Our industry is ready to engage with EU leaders on four key work strands to help shape the upcoming Action Plan due on 5 March.

Movers and Shakers: New leadership in the driver's seat 

Ola Kaellenius , CEO of the Mercedes-Benz AG Group, has officially taken the wheel as our new president. We kicked off his presidency by hosting over 60 journalists at the Brussels Motor Show where Ola presented the automotive sector's key priorities. His address highlighted the strategies essential for ensuring future competitiveness while accelerating decarbonisation across the industry.

Christian Levin, President and CEO of Scania Group , is the new Chairman of the Commercial Vehicles Board for 2025.  

We also welcomed Till Oberwörder, CEO of Daimler Buses GmbH, as Chair of ACEA’s bus and coach division for 2025.

2024 EU Truck, Bus & Van Registrations: Last Year’s Fleet Breakdown

We released the European truck, bus and van sales figures for 2024. 

Here are the headlines: 

🚚 EU van sales increased by 8%, with diesel rising by over 10%, and electrically chargeable vans declining by 9%  

🚛 Truck sales dropped by 6%, with electrically chargeable models declining by 5%    

🚌 Bus sales rose by 9%, with electrically chargeable registrations rising by 27%
