Fuse Software Engineering
At Fuse, we are building towards a world of energy abundance, where we envision energy is cheap, plentiful, and decarbonisation comes for free from good engineering. We believe this is the key to unlock next stage GDP growth of the real economy.
Why is great software needed to achieve this?
Lets first do a deep dive into software requirements needed for a fully integrated Energy company:
Ledger & computations for trading volume & prices across different trading products & maturities & counterparties
Settlements (what you get charged by the grid, which can be different from what you bill customers)
Billing end Customers
Installation
Demand Response & Virtual Power Plant
Account management
Now lets do a deep dive into the status quo, the challenges the incumbents face, and how Fuse’s approach differs.
Energy companies typically use different software providers for billing, trading, demand response, it is also different vendors by market.
How is Fuse approaching it differently?
1 generalisable ledger that works across all markets & products, makes answering questions like group risk really easy (just another read concern)
We are also able to use a single billing engine that can work across markets, types of supply (electricity, gas) and can easily adapt to water, wifi etc. as they are just other forms of cumulative billing.
Account management
How is Fuse approaching it differently?
Software is typically done on a schedule e.g. once a month/day. Problems with this approach
Interval billing is not widely adopted within the energy industry yet, despite smart meters rollouts started 10+ years ago.
Installation coordination are still done on spreadsheets
How is Fuse approaching it differently?
Demand response/Virtual Power plants are typically separate vendors to billing engine
How is Fuse approaching it differently?
We already have built a distributed software engineering team across UK, US, Europe, and now we are building an engineering hub in Dubai. Our team has come from HFTs, Big tech, start ups.

2wYou’re interesting approach. You’re even building a home grown finance system. Wish you the best of luck with that. I’ll be following.
Expansion to the GCC is the future of the energy sector, as it's becoming the new dynamic and rich hub.
