The Future of Green Logistics in India: Challenges and What We’re Doing About It

India’s logistics sector is the lifeline of its growing economy, responsible for moving over 4.6 billion tons of freight annually. But with this growth comes a parallel challenge: the environmental footprint of transportation and warehousing.

As fuel prices soar and climate change takes center stage, the logistics industry must shift gears not just to stay compliant but to stay relevant.

The Roadblocks on the Path to Greener Logistics

Despite growing awareness, sustainable logistics in India face unique hurdles:

• High upfront cost of green vehicles like EVs and LNG trucks.

• Limited charging/refuelling infrastructure, especially on intercity and long-haul routes.

• Fragmented supply chains make emissions tracking difficult.

• Lack of standardization in measuring sustainability KPIs across operators.

But these are not reasons to pause; they are opportunities to lead.

🌍 How Inland World Logistics is Taking Initiative

At Inland, we recognize that sustainable logistics isn’t a trend—it’s a responsibility.

• ✅ We’ve already deployed 300 electric vehicles into our network.

• ✅ We’ve also invested in LNG technology with 12 LNG vehicles already in operation.

• ✅ Our planning systems ensure route optimization to reduce idle time and fuel consumption.

• ✅ We’re implementing FASTag fallback tracking to eliminate gaps in visibility, reducing fuel waste from unplanned detours.

• ✅ Our warehouses are energy-efficient, with controlled lighting and space management, reducing unnecessary power usage.

• ✅ We actively promote modal shifts where feasible, integrating rail and road to lower emissions.

This is just the beginning. Having already deployed LNG vehicles, we are now expanding our LNG fleet further and working closely with partners to make sustainable transport modes more accessible and viable across our network.

Looking Ahead: A Shared Responsibility The journey toward green logistics isn’t one company’s mission; it’s an ecosystem effort. Manufacturers, service providers, fleet operators, policy makers, and customers all play a role.

At Inland, we’re not just delivering cargo. We’re delivering on a promise to move forward with purpose.

Let’s drive the change, together.
