How to Think and Grow Rich in the Cloud Era

In this edition, I will talk about one of the most influential books of all time, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, and how you can apply its principles to your cloud career.

Think and Grow Rich is a book that reveals the 13 principles of success that the author learned from studying over 500 of the most accomplished individuals in history, such as Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and many others.

In this blog post, I will summarize the first principle of success, which is desire, and show you how you can apply it to your career in the cloud era.

What is Desire?

Desire is the starting point of all achievement. It is the strong and burning ambition to achieve a specific goal or outcome. It is not a mere wish or a hope, but a definite and determined purpose that drives you to action.

Hill states that the key to success is to define a goal and to pour all of your energy, power, and effort into achieving it. It may take many years before you are successful, but if you hold onto your desire, you will eventually attain what you seek.

To help you do so, Hill presents the six steps to turn your desire into reality:

1. Decide exactly how much money you wish to make, to the dollar.
2. Determine what you are willing to give to receive this amount of money.
3. Choose a date you want to have amassed this amount of money.
4. Could you create a plan of how to achieve your goal and begin at once, whether you feel ready or not?
5. Write all of the above down in a clear statement.
6. Read this written statement aloud, twice a day – first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Visualize your life as if you already own this amount of money.

By following these steps, you will impress your subconscious mind with your desire and activate the law of attraction, which will draw to you the people, the resources, and the opportunities that you need to make your dream come true.

How to Apply Desire to Your Cloud Career

(My personal favorite)

If you are a cloud enthusiast or a normal student who wants to pursue a career in cloud computing, you can use the principle of desire to achieve your goals.

Cloud computing is one of the most in-demand and lucrative fields in the IT industry today. It refers to our ability to access software applications, data storage, servers, networking, analytics, and intelligence, over the Internet instead of using physical servers located in an office. This advancement in technology offers companies the opportunity to innovate and scale quickly and with flexibility.

To succeed in the cloud, you need to have the following skills: (Opinions Welcome, Always Appreciated.)

• Programming: Python, JavaScript, and R for application development.
• Cloud Platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure knowledge for platform selection.
• Database Management: NoSQL, relational databases, data warehousing expertise.
• Linux: Proficiency for coding on the widely used open-source OS.
• Security: Skills to protect cloud data and applications.
• DevOps: Automation using Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Communication: Collaborative skills with tools like Zoom, Teams, and Google Docs.

Once you have the skills, you need to have the desire to land your dream job in the cloud. Here are some steps you can take to apply the principle of desire to your cloud career:(I made this for myself)

1. Decide exactly what kind of cloud job you want, such as cloud engineer, cloud architect, cloud developer, cloud security specialist, etc.
2. Determine what you are willing to do to get this job, such as learning new skills, updating your resume, networking with other professionals, applying for jobs, preparing for interviews, etc.
3. Choose a date by which you want to have this job, such as within six months, one year, or two years.
4. Create a plan of how to get this job, such as taking online courses, completing projects, building a portfolio, reaching out to recruiters, etc.
5. Write all of the above down in a clear statement, such as “I want to become a cloud engineer at <xyz>COMPANY by <123> DATE 2024. I am willing to learn Python, GCP, and DevOps skills, and apply for at least <n> number of jobs per week. I will start my plan today and follow it until I achieve my goal.”
6. Read this written statement aloud, twice a day, and visualize yourself working as a cloud engineer at Google, enjoying the benefits of your cloud career.

By doing this, you will create a strong and burning desire to achieve your cloud career goal, and you will attract the right opportunities and resources to make it happen.

How to Apply Desire to Your 2024 Vision for Your Own Life

If you want to create a vision for your own life, not just your cloud career, you can also use the principle of desire to guide you. A vision for your own life is a statement that describes what kind of life you want to live, what matters most to you, and what makes you happy and fulfilled.

A vision for your own life can help you:

• Clarify your values and priorities
• Align your actions and decisions with your purpose and goals
• Motivate and inspire you to pursue your dreams
• Overcome challenges and obstacles that may arise
• Measure your progress and celebrate your achievements

To create a vision for your own life, you can follow these steps:(I did it myself)

1. Explore your passions and interests. What do you love to do?
2. What makes you excited and curious?
3. What are you good at or want to learn more about?
4. Could you identify your core values?
5. What are the principles and beliefs that guide your life?
6. What do you stand for and care about?
7. What are the qualities that you admire and respect in yourself and others?
8. Imagine your ideal future. What does your best life look like?
9. Where do you live?
10. Who do you spend time with?
11. What do you do for work and fun?
12. How do you feel physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually?
13. Write down your vision statement. Use positive and present tense language to describe your ideal future as if it is already happening. Be specific and realistic, but also ambitious and inspiring. Include all the aspects of your life that are important to you, such as health, career, relationships, leisure, lifestyle, and spirituality.
14. Review and refine your vision statement. Read your vision statement aloud and see how it makes you feel. Does it resonate with you and excite you? Does it reflect your true self and your aspirations? If not, make some adjustments until you are satisfied with it.
15. Use your vision statement as a guide. Keep your vision statement somewhere you can see it often, such as your phone, your computer, or your wall. Refer to it whenever you need to make a decision, set a goal, or face a challenge. Let it remind you of what you want and why you want it.

By doing this, you will create a strong and burning desire to achieve your vision for your own life, and you will attract the right opportunities and resources to make it happen.
