Letting agents: Help shape the future of rental regulation

Letting agents: Help shape the future of rental regulation

Politicians in Westminster are planning the most significant private rented sector reforms since the Tenant Fees Act. The Levelling Up the United Kingdom white paper released last month proposes scrapping Section 21 evictions, introducing moveable lifetime tenancy deposits, and creating a National Landlord Register.

New regulations could help to maintain high standards in our industry, or they could create time-consuming new hoops for agents to jump through. To set common-sense rules, the government could benefit from help from the people who know the private rented sector best: the letting agents who work in it every day!

On 30 March, I’m meeting with policymakers and other public sector figures at the Second Annual National Local Government Event 2022 to discuss the future of regulation – and to share feedback with them from lettings professionals across the country.
