This week, we'd like to highlight Joel Tang , Associate Director of Business Development. Driven by his curiosity, Joel has consistently achieved impressive results. He joined LMA in February 2024 and became part of the Business Development team focusing on increasing LMA Recruitment's client base in the APAC region. With 6 years of recruitment solutioning experience, he oversees the hiring processes to ensure timely delivery with consistently high service standards for our clients.

A Glimpse into Joel's Personal Life

There's always something "fishy" about me! Jokes aside, keeping aquatic pets has been my passion since childhood. I've had my fair share of experience keeping and breeding exotic monster fish, aqua scaping, and breeding shrimp. Some of my friends often joke that my fish eat better food than I do, and it's true!

Beyond that, I do enjoy hiking and cycling every now and then. But my deepest passion is exploring the flavours of delicious food. Having majored in food science, eating also happens to be a hobby for me!

A Recruitment Success Story

We recently had the privilege of assisting a client with evaluating and enhancing their employer brand across the Asia-Pacific region, a service we specialize in. Our dedicated team collaborated closely with the client, dedicating significant time and effort to gain a deep understanding of their current circumstances and develop a comprehensive plan.

Following extensive brainstorming sessions and alignment meetings with both our team and the client, we presented our carefully crafted solution. Upon implementation, the client began to observe the positive impact. Naturally, results take time to develop, but approximately nine months later, we received a call from the client, excitedly sharing the successes they had achieved and expressing their heartfelt gratitude.

Experiencing firsthand the tangible impact of our efforts and witnessing the satisfaction of our client was truly rewarding. It serves as a poignant reminder of the meaningful difference we can make through our dedication and expertise.

Anticipations of the market in 2024

In 2023, we witnessed a noticeable slowdown in global hiring due in part to the challenging global economic landscape, geopolitical tensions, and significant layoffs by major enterprises, particularly prominent tech companies. Organizations were compelled to adapt to this complex environment, leading to a more cautious wait-and-see approach, which resulted in an increased average time to hire.

However, as we move forward in 2024, we are seeing renewed optimism in the market with a resurgence of momentum. While opportunities are appearing in certain sectors, we anticipate a ramp-up in hiring activities, especially in the latter half of the year.

Looking ahead, 2024 holds promise for LMA Recruitment as we expand our service capabilities and introduce additional specialized verticals and functions, offering fully customizable solutions to our clients. With a steadfast commitment to enhancing client experience, we remain dedicated to integrating the latest and most effective technologies to elevate our service delivery, ensuring greater impact and efficiency.

In my role as the associate director for business development, curiosity serves as my driving force for success. It compels me to delve deep into understanding our clients' needs, market trends, and competitor strategies. By continuously asking probing questions and seeking innovative solutions, I uncover new opportunities for growth and differentiation.
