Van buyer demand shifting from new to used market, Cox Automotive says
The commercial vehicle market is seeing a shift from new to used vehicles, according to Cox Automotive.
The data firm has published new forecasts, as part of a newly launched programme, showing that the UK new van market is expected to decline in 2025 by 11.3%, while the used market is expected to decline by only 0.9%.
Used LCV value increase reported by BCA
The average value of used LCVs sold at auction increased by 13.8% year-on-year in August, according to BCA.
The remarketing company said last month’s £7,892 average also represented a £75 increase compared with July.
Barhale adopts SureCam video telematics
Civil engineering company Barhale has installed video telematics from SureCam on its commercial vehicle fleet.
The system has been rolled out to more than 300 Barhale vehicles, including small, medium, and large vans.
EV Infrastructure & Energy Summit 2025 to address fleet electrification
The EV Infrastructure & Energy Summit is returning for 2025, bringing together chargepoint operators, fleet leaders, local authorities, energy providers, investors and automotive innovators to debate the opportunities and challenges in building out the UK’s EV charging future.
The event, for which What Van? is a media partner, is organised by Solar Media, part of Informa Markets, and will take place on 1-2 October at the London Hilton Metropole.
Volkswagen appoints new UK CV boss
David Hanna has been named as director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK.
Hanna, whose appointment will be effective from 1 October, has 20 years of automotive industry experience, and has been with Volkswagen Group UK since 2014.
FridgeXpress announces network expansion
Temperature-controlled vehicle rental company FridgeXpress is expanding its network with five new locations.
The new sites in Glasgow, Stockton, Crawley, Bristol, and Barking will offer temperature-controlled vehicles for immediate hire, broadening FridgeXpress’s reach beyond its Rugby headquarters and adding to the wider Northgate group’s existing network of 68 dedicated workshops across the UK.
