Why we read Qur'an in Arabic even we don't understand it.

Why we read Qur'an in Arabic even we don't understand it.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

An old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky with his young grandson.

Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Qur'an.

His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.

One day the grandson asked,

"Grandpa! I try to read the Qur'an just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book.

What good does reading the Qur'an do?"

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water."

The boy did as he was told, But all the water leaked out before he got back to the house.

The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.

This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home.

Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.

The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water;

I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would Leak out before he got back to the house.

The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty.

Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!"

"So you think it is useless?"

The old man said, "Look at the basket."

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different.

It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.

"Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur'an.

You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be Changed, inside and out.

That is the work of Allah (swt) in our lives."

Prophet Muhammad ( ﷺ ) says:

"The one who guides to good will be reward equally"

Allah humma salli ala muhammad wa-ala aa li muhammad kama sallayta ala Ibraaheem wa ala aali Ibraheem inna ka hameedum majeed.

Allahhumma barik ala muhammad wa ala aali muhammad kamaa baarakta alaa Ibraaheem wa alaa aali Ibraheem inna ka hameedum majeed.

Rabbanaa aatinaa fiddunya hasanah wa fil aakhirati hasanah wa qinaa adhaaban naar.

Rabighfirlee wa li waalidayyaa wa lil mu'mineena wal mu'minaati, yauma yaqoomul hisaab.

Ameen.

What is this rewards you will get for Reading in Arabic, when you don't know what it means??? Quran and religions is not about rewards. You *probably got rewarded when you were a little kid and mastered “ABCD .. ..”* Then it becomes pass or fail. If you understood the subject, you passed.. otherwise you FAILED.! Please read Quran in a language you know, and *don't do it to be REWARDED!* Read it *to see what God is telling you* about His religion ISLAM, *and ACT* upon it as you understand. .. .. . To me, *it is as simple as that!* Once you have read the Quran, you *will not live in the fear of God, but in AWE !!* https://www.quora.com/Can-I-read-the-English-version-of-the-Holy-Quran-and-get-the-same-reward-of-reading-the-Arabic-version/answer/Monti-Khaja?ch=15&oid=320836677&share=1d00d765&srid=uipuz&target_type=answer

Dilip Mutum PhD Indeed if we know Arabic than it is quite easy to understand the meaning of Holy Quran, However there is something surprising fact about the Quran also if we like to read it with a pure intention to take Hidaya (guidance) from the book than it will surely give us a guidance to the straight path but if our intentions & thoughts are not so pure than it will also leads us to the wrong path, that's why it's our duty to choose what we like to gain. May Allah gave us a positive mindset and a clean heart who think. Aa'meen

Nice thought. However, I feel that we should all make an effort to learn Arabic or at least get several translations as well as interpretations to understand the words. If not we have to depend on other people who may misinterpret and misrepresent the meaning to suit their own agenda. I have personally come across some of these people.
