Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan is committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of the Los Angeles community and that’s why we proudly helped sponsor the LA Trust Tooth Fairy Oral Health Initiative. The event, which drew more than 4,000 attendees, was hosted by The Los Angeles Trust for Children's Health and the Los Angeles Unified School District at the "Move It" Health and Wellness Festival hosted at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and spotlights the importance of children's oral health. Visitors received free oral #health screenings, and resources about low-cost #dental services while Blue Shield Promise distributed hygiene kits with toothpaste and toothbrushes, and shared information about the free resources available at more than a dozen Community Resource Centers, located throughout #LosAngelesCounty, that are jointly operated by Blue Shield Promise and L.A. Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan is making it easier for families to access vital preventive care. This year alone, we’ve hosted 18 well-child visit events across #SanDiego and #LosAngeles counties. With 50 more events planned, we’re expanding access to essential health services for children and young adults across Southern California. Just ahead of #MothersDay our Community Resource Center (CRC) in #Palmdale, jointly operated by Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan and L.A. Care Health Plan, hosted a Mother’s Day Celebration to pamper local moms with the opportunity to get their hair done at no cost by Sazzy Hair Studio and bring home bags filled with self-care items. Events like these hosted at our CRCs are essential to our mission of positively impacting the #health and well-being of our neighbors and the members we serve. It is so important for us to show up every day for our members in the community. At a recent baby shower at Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan and L.A. Care Health Plan's East Los Angeles Community Resource Center, 25 pregnant and new moms from the community played games, enjoyed healthy food, and were showered with essential baby supplies. We’re genuinely excited to host these events as they allow us to celebrate and support expectant moms, ensuring they have the information, resources, and community backing they need during this important time in their lives. These Community Baby Showers represent much more than just gifts and games. Our centers provide crucial services to help bring health and wellbeing services directly to the communities where our members live and work – increasing access to health-related resources and services, fostering community connections, addressing social needs, and improving health incomes for our members and the Los Angeles County. To fully support our Medi-Cal members it’s so important that we work with organizations in the communities where our members live. One example of this is the work we do with La Maestra Community Health Centers in San Diego. We greatly value their visionary, holistic and culturally competent approach to community health through an integrated delivery model and see the difference they make for our members in San Diego. Our work together has spanned many decades and because of that, we are thrilled to have received the Legacy Partnership award from La Maestra. Striving for balance when it comes to health and wellness is something we all try to do, even if we know it’s not always achievable. There’s almost no way to perfectly balance exercise, sleep, and healthy eating habits—especially while juggling busy schedules and managing the stress. But we can certainly try - and that’s what matters. I recently shared what I’ve learned has worked for me in my daily life (which includes spending time with my dog, Dean!) with Newsweek's Access Health reporter Alexis Kayser. Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan recently joined the #LindaVista community to celebrate the arts, food, culture and education at the 40th annual Linda Vista Multi-Cultural Fair & Parade. Our team was thrilled to distribute ponchos keeping visitors dry through the rain, as they enjoyed the vibrant sounds, sights, energy, and diverse cuisine of San Diego--including lion dances and ballet folklorico, art demonstrations and food from around the globe. Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan joined hundreds of families to celebrate #literacy, #education, #languages, and #cultures at the 2025 Day of the Child event in #ChulaVista, hosted by the Chula Vista Community Collaborative. This free, annual event held at Memorial Park, provided families with resources about children’s safety, health, and services in the community. Attendees enjoyed live entertainment, including traditional Mexican music and dance, a classic car show, and a variety of interactive activities. Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan was recently presented with the Bea Gold Corporate Compassion Award from Pathways LA, an organization that works with low income, vulnerable working families to promote high-quality early learning care and education services for children at its 2025 Building Brighter Futures Fundraiser. Blue Shield Promise was honored for the crucial work being done to uplift families and communities - including operating more than a dozen community resource centers in Los Angeles County, in partnership with L.A. Care Health Plan. The centers provide free programs and services in multiple languages such as academic tutoring for students in grades K-8, back to school events and school supplies, and health and fitness classes to help visitors stay active, healthy, and informed.
