Blue Shield of California and Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan were proud to sponsor the Los Angeles Martin Luther King Day Parade on Jan. 19, the nation’s largest celebration honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.   This year’s theme, “Reclaiming the Dream,” brought thousands of Angelenos together South Los Angeles for a day of unity, reflection and community pride. The event served as a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to uplift the communities we serve.   As Kristen Cerf, president and CEO of Blue Shield Promise said: “Supporting the Martin Luther King Day Parade is more than a tradition — it’s a reflection of our values and a promise to stand with our communities. I’m proud of the work Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan is doing to support healthier beginnings for mothers and families across our communities.   Our Promising Start Program—launched in November for Blue Shield Promise members in San Diego County—is one example of how we’re investing in meaningful, person-centered care. By offering essential baby supplies and connecting moms to resources, education, and personalized guidance, we’re helping ensure they feel supported through pregnancy and early motherhood.   One of our first participants, San Diego resident Jazmin Tapia, shared how much the program meant to her and the hope she has for other moms who will benefit from it.
