Is it just me, or has customer experience, customer service, and customer contact changed more in the past year than in the prior 10 years combined?! It’s wild out there! So many shifts in strategy. So many shifts in customer expectations. So much new technology to assess, pilot, and adopt. What I’m seeing is a LOT of businesses trying to go their own way, and figure out the intersection of AI and customer contact in real-time. That’s a lonely (and potentially dangerous place). Why? Because NOBODY really knows what they’re doing. Not yet. It’s all too new. This is why industry events are so incredibly important right now. The opportunity to discuss with contemporaries, and hear from peer-level speakers about their real-world successes and failures? Invaluable. I saw this at previous Customer Contact Week events this year. Everyone wants to talk to each other to figure this all out together. It’s intoxicating. And important. This is when industry events are most crucial…during times of great disruption. And the next one is around the corner.
