Searches for seasonal jobs are up 27% from last year – and 50% from 2023 – even as postings have barely budged, Bloomberg reports. “What we’re seeing in the seasonal hiring market is what we’re seeing in the broader market,” Indeed economist Cory Stahle told Bloomberg. “People are going out and looking for jobs and just finding fewer of them going around.” Read the full article for more on how holiday jobseekers are facing a tougher season ahead. #HiringLab #SeasonalHiring #LaborMarket https://lnkd.in/gAt__edn

“We’re continuing to see this low-hire, low-fire environment,” Indeed economist Laura Ullrich told CBS MoneyWatch, describing a market where openings have slowed and sidelined workers struggle to re-enter. She warned that long-term unemployment, now at its highest level in more than three years, risks pushing people out of the labor force entirely. What if second chances told you more about talent than first impressions? Organizational psychologist Adam Grant recently shared a powerful insight at Indeed FutureWorks 2025: new US Army data shows that, when candidates get a second interview, the progress they’ve made since the first is a stronger predictor of their potential than their initial performance. It’s a reminder that talent isn’t static — people learn, adapt, and grow. And when hiring processes are designed to recognize this, companies make smarter staffing decisions. Here are a few ways to build that mindset into how you hire: ▪️Look for growth signals. Pay attention to how candidates evolve with feedback — not just how they perform once. ▪️Design hiring for learning. Add structured opportunities for second looks or staged assessments. ▪️Rethink “fit.” Prioritize potential and adaptability as much as immediate polish. Hiring isn’t about finding someone perfect on day one. It’s about recognizing who’s ready — and eager — to get better every day. We shared more of Adam Grant’s insights on Lead with Indeed, our thought leadership hub. Business Insider featured findings from Indeed’s new AI at Work Report 2025, which shows that only 26% of U.S. job postings could be highly transformed by generative AI. Most roles are expected to experience more moderate change, with AI handling routine tasks while human expertise remains essential. The share of US job postings mentioning training programs rose from 3.4% in January 2018 to 8.1% in August 2025. These explicit training opportunities are unevenly distributed across occupations: they cluster in jobs requiring lower education, experience, and wages, as well as jobs with lower AI exposure and adoption.

“The labor market is frozen, [like] a deer in the headlights,” Indeed economist Allison Shrivastava told The Washington Post, pointing to the uncertainty shaping today’s hiring landscape. She explained that while workers are holding onto their jobs, those trying to switch roles or enter the market are finding fewer opportunities.
