💫 Building #digital systems that power #inclusion and #sustainability: a global initiative co-founded by #CambridgeJudge experts, the Innovation Hub for Prosperity (IHP) is advancing open digital infrastructure that helps economies grow more equitably. Last month, the IHP team, including Pramod Varma and Carlos Montes, launched a new partnership with the Central Bank of Peru to strengthen financial innovation and digital trust. One of the wonderful things about being University of Cambridge is all the talks you can attend, last Thursday I got three windows into AI (policy, science and creativity) from three amazing speakers! I started at Trinity Hall Cambridge for Imperfect Oracle – What AI Can and Cannot Do, hosted by El-Erian Institute of Behavioural Economics & Policy a seminar with Cass Sunstein moderated by Lucia Reisch. From there I crossed to King's College, Cambridge for Geoffrey Hinton’s Nobel Prize Winner session hosted by King's E-Lab on the prospects of AGI. The day closed back at King’s Chapel with will.i.am in conversation with Gillian Tett, with a standing reception afterwards thanks to King's E-Lab It was a whirlwind of a day, with so many themes, it is difficult to synthesize, into just a couple of key takeaways. - AI can help us avoid the biases and even spot the biases inherent within human judgment but is important to understand the limits, of what AI cannot do, not now and not ever. - Questioning are machines conscious, makes us consider what the future would look like (it also, made me think back to my days of sitting through philosophy lectures). - AI can be inclusive, Will.i.am’s focus on tools, talent pipelines, and creative entrepreneurship was a practical counterweight—innovation only matters if people can access it and benefit from it.
