Today, I wanted to share a few reflections on what I’m celebrating this API Heritage Month, along with some stories and life lessons learned along the way.

    From opening remarks to final conversations, Cairns Crocodiles was a masterclass in what’s possible when creativity and performance go hand in hand. I had the honour of opening Cairns Crocodiles and sitting down with Olympic champion Ariarne Titmus, who reminded us that in both sport and business, mindset is everything when you are making tough decisions and redefining excellence. Here are  just a few ideas I’m taking with me this week: 💡  “When you're in an Olympic environment, everyone there has done the work, everyone's trained hard, it's all mental,” Ariarne shared. Whether it’s a medal or market share, bold decisions and belief in your vision make all the difference. 🔎 Visual search is transforming discovery.  The future of search is visual. People save and curate their ideas directly on Pinterest—this gives us unique first-party signals about their taste. 📈 Positive platforms drive performance. Recent research from MAGNA revealed that ads served in environments viewed as positive are 94% more impactful in driving purchase intent compared to platforms viewed as non-positive. ✌️70% of ad revenue in Australia is projected to go to just two platforms. Relying on just a couple of channels for growth is risky for our region. Diversifying matters. 😎 Don’t chase cool. Deliver something of value. As Xanthe Wells said in her keynote,  “At Pinterest, we are the gallery walls. Not the paintings.” Listen to your users and showcase the culture already happening with your brand. Australia’s marketing landscape is evolving fast. This week’s conversations pushed us to think bigger about how we build smarter, safer, and more effective media environments. From discovering your personal color palette, to planning your next escape in our Travel Studio, to getting an actual, custom tattoo inspired by your saved Pins, this experience has been a delight for everyone who's attended! Pinterest has always been about inspiration that leads to action. What we created here is a celebration of that journey — from ideas to identity, dreaming to doing.     Two truths: Every wedding matters. And Pinterest hires mushy romantics. Last week, we proved it by surprising couples outside city hall in NYC on their way to tie the knot. Before they said “I do”, we offered them anything they wanted from our trending flower cart, a session with one of the most talented (and in demand!) wedding photographers in the city, and gift cards to the champagne bar down the street to toast each other afterwards. It’s fortunate my team didn’t invite me to join, because I would have been a blubbering liability the entire time. As someone who got married just a few blocks away over twenty years ago (and who couldn’t afford a wedding bouquet when I did), this brought back profound memories. And reminded me that love—and a touch of inspiration—is truly all you need.
