PhotoChromeleon: The Color-Shifting Revolution with Reprogrammable Ink and AI The models first appeared on the runway in crisp, all-white fabrics but when a beam of light shone on the garments, bright colours and bold patterns emerged. The Paris Fashion Week witnessed the enchanting wonders of fashion technology through the use of photochromic dyes, as showcased by the renowned Japanese fashion label, Anrealage, in their Autumn/Winter 2023-24 collection. These ingenious dyes bring a touch of enchantment to the garments, transforming them into vivid hues and captivating prints as the natural sunlight intensity shifts. But do you know what really made this possible? The key to this magical transformation lies in the innovative use of reprogrammable ink mixed with photochromic dyes. MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) played a pivotal role in making this vision a reality by incorporating an AI-driven system. Through this system, they comprehensively understood how each dye interacts with different wavelengths, allowing for precise control of color channels. The ingenious use of different lights with varying wavelengths further expanded the color possibilities. It enabled the activation and deactivation of each primary color separately, creating a diverse range of colors and patterns. By utilizing a mix of cyan, magenta, and yellow (CMY) photochromic dyes in a single sprayable solution, the laborious process of 3D printing individual pixels was eliminated. This unique combination empowers objects to change colors when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) and visible light sources, facilitating effortless customization and endless creative possibilities. Objects can be transformed repeatedly, giving users the autonomy to personalize their possessions and preserving valuable resources. The AI oriented PhotoChromeleon truly represents advancement in the world of fashion, where individualization and innovation converge. #innovation #textiles  #fashiontrends #digitalfashion #FashionTechRevolution

As Fashion Month kicks off we are seeing a firm commitment to #AI across a variety of instances and designer presentations. With the promise to make an impact across global #supplychains as well as offering materialization opportunities, it's no wonder that London's Fashion Week will showcase AI-generated looks in celebration of it's 40th anniversary. The ability to use #technology as another tool in their toolboxes empowers designers to "make informed decisions before physically producing clothes," Nyima Jobe for The Guardian reports. As Head of London College of Fashion’s Innovation Agency, Matthew Drinkwater describes, AI " has opened the door to non-traditional pathways into the fashion industry....these tools are allowing people from very different backgrounds to begin to have a foothold in the industry. And for me, that feels really new and exciting.” With McKinsey predicting AI will have the power to "add $150bn to $275bn to the operating profits of the #fashion and #luxury sectors within the next three to five years," this season's #virtual and #physical runways will be a great case study to watch as #designers experiment with new #tech inspired creativity and #innovation inspired by the evolution of AI and other #emergingtech tools. https://lnkd.in/gCnMZg4j

Instead of replacing humans, #AI is taking over the mundane & repetitive tasks, freeing up people to focus on the aspects of their jobs that require creativity, empathy, and human judgment. This shift will allow workers to engage in more meaningful and fulfilling work, while also increasing productivity and efficiency. Some of the #startups partnering with Microsoft for Startups are great evidence of how they play a part in this transformation: Commerce.AI transcribes & summarizes customer service calls. The summary is automatically logged into the #CRM application freeing customer agents from summarizing and documenting every call manually. aiOla uses #AI to enable #retail employees to use Voice for capturing data during processes like shelf monitoring, store audits and more. Their solution uses AI to parse and map the information to LOB apps and forms. This frees up from having to fill up forms for reporting but rather use voice during the audit process. DeepBrain AI has a solution that uses AI to automate various aspects of the job interview process. The system matches job applications to job descriptions and generates questions for candidates, which are then used by an AI-generated human in a video call. They can conduct hundreds of video calls simultaneously, transcribing and summarizing the screening calls. The summaries are then rated for the best fit to the job and reviewed by recruiters, streamlining the hiring process and saving time and effort for all involved. Fashable uses Generative AI to assist fashion and apparel designers in creating new designs. By analyzing data from various sources, including social media, Fashable generates designs that can serve as inspiration for designers to develop their own creations or mood boards. This innovative use of AI technology helps streamline the design process and provides designers with fresh ideas and perspectives.
