This graph just changed how I think about AI's impact on sales teams (and it should change yours too) I've been studying this P&G research that measured 776 people working on complex problems - both as individuals and in 2-person teams combining commercial and technical leaders. The results are crazy but not for the reason you might expect. Most companies are obsessing over the wrong AI question "Will AI replace my team?" When they should be asking "How do I use AI to make my team dramatically better?" Look at the red and yellow bars in this graph 📈 Individual salespeople using AI outperform entire teams WITHOUT AI 📈 Teams using AI create solutions that are 60% higher quality than teams without AI The performance gap between AI-powered individuals and traditional teams is MASSIVE. This completely validates what I've been seeing with clients who are implementing The Innovative Seller approach: 1. Sales teams using AI for customer research are having more meaningful conversations 2. Account executives using AI to craft personalized follow-ups are seeing 5X higher response rates 3. Sales leaders using AI for strategy development are identifying opportunities traditional thinking misses This study was conducted with ChatGPT-4o BEFORE the new "Deep Research and Reasoning" capabilities were available! If you're still debating WHETHER to adopt AI in your sales process, you're already falling dangerously behind. The real question is HOW you're integrating it across your entire revenue organization.

AI Impact Story 1: A close friend in tech sales for a major company was great at building customer relationships and advancing sales. But he always struggled to create custom sales proposals that could move deals from the “Proposal” stage to “Negotiation.” So, six months ago, I created a Custom GPT for him to generate customer-specific sales proposals using this process: ↳ We uploaded his standard proposal template into this GPT. ↳ Trained it to analyze customer conversation transcripts to identify business challenges and match them with product use cases from his company website. ↳ Ran trials to create 10-page customized proposals, refined the process, and built it into a turnkey solution. The results? ✅ What used to take him and his team a week now takes less than five minutes. ✅ His CRO personally commended the proposals as the best he's seen. ✅ The customer said the proposal hit exactly on their pain points, solution, and implementation plan. ✅ He's now focusing more on customer engagement, the part of the sale he loves most. ✅ He's closed $30M in deals this year – 6X his previous record. My friend now has a scalable, repeatable process that turns his weakness into a strength, unlocking his full potential. That’s what his AI is doing for him. Is yours still just writing better emails for you? Think bigger. Used appropriately, AI should 100X your productivity. Not in five years – TODAY. The best part? My buddy was hesitant to believe the impact that AI could deliver for him, too. So I built this for him, for free, in just a few hours. The Insight Age #TheInsightAge #AIProductivity #TechSales

The 10x programmer - engineers whose prodigious productivity and perspicacity change the arc of a business. But what about a 10x AE? A salesperson who books 10x more business than their next closest peer. 10x engineers use their knowledge of technology to achieve astounding feats. Why wouldn’t the same idea apply to sales? With AI, we will start to see sales outliers who meaningfully outperform & break quota expectations. AI compresses prospect research time. AI writes emails. AI captures transcripts from sales conversations. All of this work is 50-80% automated. If the typical AE saves 1 hour per day with these automations, they recoup 220 hours or about 15% of their time. But there’s a nonlinear productivity gain that exceeds this simple calculation. AI enables salespeople to parallelize their work : software can research 10 different prospects simultaneously, rather than just 1 for a human. Salespeople who leverage that parallelization will book 10x more. They will break quota plans as outliers, drive meaningful change within their organizations, & improve the overall efficiency of their business. In the extreme cases, I wonder if it might shift more sales compensation to equity rather than cash, because retaining these 10x AEs will become a strategic imperative to the business. Losing them could be catastrophic.

Most AI tools in GTM are solving the wrong problem. They focus on maximizing outreach volume when the real challenge is something far more fundamental: maintaining meaningful context across hundreds of relationships. Think about your most successful sales relationships. It's never about sending more messages, it's about showing up at exactly the right moments with precisely relevant context. This matches what we've learned building AI systems for relationship intelligence. The magic isn't in automated outreach. It's in three core capabilities: 1️⃣ Tracking subtle signals about changing priorities 2️⃣ Spotting connection patterns across vast networks 3️⃣ Surfacing relevant context exactly when it matters Here's what's transformative: When AI handles these fundamentals, salespeople don't become less authentic. They become more present in the conversations that actually drive value. This is reshaping how we think about AI in sales relationships. The goal isn't to automate connection. It's to create space for real ones to happen systematically. Being authentic necessarily means timing and context matter more than volume. #startups #founders #growth

Early in my career, I was in Sales. I learned an essential insight: If you care deeply about your customers' career versus your career, you will be successful. To do that, you need to bring insights, tailor to your customers' business and deeply understand their priorities. The question now is: how can AI possibly play a role in something so fundamentally human?  It might sound counterintuitive, but AI doesn’t replace the human touch—it strengthens it. I have been talking to customers about how they are driving results with AI in sales. Here is what one customer did over the last year. It started with the CEO challenging the team to leverage AI in sales. He wanted to instill a culture of an AI first organization. Then he picked one leader as the DRI (directly responsible individual) to drive the AI initiatives. We have found that both these are crucial for AI initiatives - needs to come from a leader and needs a clear driver. The first step was helping BDRs research faster. They were able to bring together company data, transcripts, conversations and help reps research prospects. The result: they cut prep time by 50% in a few months. Next up, they added a ton of data sources within HubSpot and with the help of AI, they were able to generate draft emails - this improved the follow-up time by 20% and helped them move through discovery much faster. Now, they are using AI to figure out the next best actions after calls. Super cool to see results in a few months! Our takeaway is clear: Let AI handle the groundwork, freeing reps to excel at what they do best—building meaningful relationships, earning trust, and forging deeper connections. This is the true path to sales success. What are your best AI use cases in Sales? Where are you seeing value?

A CRO made his position clear at the start of the call: “If we use AI, my sellers will stop thinking.” I get where he’s coming from, but I think the opposite is true. Sellers are so bogged down with manual, mindless, repetitive tasks right now… they don’t have time to think. When used properly, AI doesn’t replace the rep’s thinking. It replaces the endless hours spent on the mindless work. Here’s an easy example: The process of building a detailed account plan takes hours. It’s a low speed treasure hunt that requires countless Google searches and a lot of wasted energy. By the time the basic information is found, the rep is mentally exhausted and feels behind on execution. So the account plan is built but the account strategy takes a backseat. With AI, a ton of the research is done and the information is nicely synthesized and delivered. That means that the rep can thoughtfully examine the relevant information and think deeply about the right approach to breaking into the account and running a great cycle. Where would you rather have your reps spending their time and energy? On the mind-numbing research, or on the creative account strategies? #gtmai #sales #sdr

What's the actual ROI of AI? And please stop telling me about all the "efficiencies" it creates. That's not ROI. AI can help us create and send highly personalized emails at scale but are response rates improving? It can help us prepare for meeting better and faster than ever but are those meetings turning into opportunities more often? It can record our calls, update CRM and follow up faster than ever but is that helping to shorten sales cycles or close more deals? It seems like everywhere I looked, all I could find was information about efficiencies, not results. That's why I was really interested in checking out LinkedIn for Sales new ROI of AI Report. They interviewed 1250 sales professionals and combined it with data and insights from the platform itself to come up with some compelling data around how AI is impacting results. Some of my favorite take-aways include: ✅ 88% of sales professionals have integrated AI into their weekly workflows, with 56% relying on it daily. ✅ Reps who exceed quota are 2.5x more likely to use AI daily ✅ AI-powered outreach boosts response rates by 28% ✅ CRM integrations cut 1 week off the average sales cycle There's a lot more to unpack in this report. Comment "Make it Happen" and I'll send you the link to download. #makeithappen #sposored #sales #ai

Generative AI is also a revenue generator: here is why Sales and Generative AI are a perfect match. Historically, sales lagged in digital adoption compared to sectors like finance and marketing. But with generative AI's advent, sales is poised to lead the AI revolution. Here is why: Sales is interaction-rich, producing vast data from emails, calls, and meetings. Generative AI thrives on such unstructured data, making sales an ideal playground. Here 5 ways to capitalize on the AI Advantage in Sales: 1. Reducing Administrative Tasks: Generative AI can automate tasks like email drafting, note organization, and CRM updates, freeing up salespeople for core activities. 2. Enhancing Customer Interactions: AI can provide personalized content and product recommendations, making interactions more meaningful. 3. Empowering Sales Managers: With AI, sales reports can be more interactive, forward-looking, and insightful, aiding managers in strategic decision-making. 4. Ensure Value Creation with AI: To harness AI's full potential, companies must strike a balance between accuracy and speed. Integrating AI into existing systems can offer quick wins. Outsourcing capabilities while nurturing an internal AI expert team can be a strategic move. 5. Complementing Salespeople with AI AI will undeniably take over certain sales tasks, especially in familiar purchases. However, complex sales will still require the human touch. While AI narrows the role of salespeople in some areas, it simultaneously opens up new avenues and opportunities. A note of caution: While generative AI offers immense potential, it can sometimes draw biased or inconsistent conclusions. Customizing models to specific company data can mitigate these challenges. The future of sales is here, and it's AI-driven. As generative AI continues to evolve, it promises to be an indispensable tool for sales teams, reshaping strategies and redefining success. What are your thoughts on the role of AI in Sales? #AIDrivenSales #GenerativeAI #SalesRevolution #FutureOfSales Data: Goldman Sachs, Bloomberg, and HBR
