After working with dozens of implementation teams, here are the misconceptions causing costly missteps: 1.    "Agentic AI" ≠ "AI Agents" -Most "agents" today follow narrow instructions with little true agency. Know the difference. 2.    Adding More Agents Isn't Linear Scaling- Agent interactions grow combinatorially, not linearly, explaining why multi-agent systems often fail in production. 3.    It Won't Run Your Business Autonomously- Current systems require significant human oversight—they're augmenting knowledge workers, not replacing them. 4.    Scaling Laws Are Hitting Limits- The "just make it bigger" approach is showing diminishing returns as quality data becomes scarce. 5.    Synthetic Data Isn't a Silver Bullet -You can't bootstrap wisdom by endlessly remixing the same information. 6.    Memory Remains a Fundamental Limitation- Most systems still forget critical details across extended interactions. 7.    Emotional, High-Stakes Tasks Need Humans- AI lacks the empathy and judgment needed for your most valuable use cases. 8.    Scaling Is Organizational, Not Just Technical- The hardest problems involve cross-functional coordination and process redesign, not just better tech. 9.    It's Not "Almost Conscious"- These are pattern-matching systems—nothing more, nothing less. 10. Smaller Models Often Outperform Giants- The future is the right model for the right job, not one massive model for everything.     Here’s the truth about AI in CX that no one’s talking about (but everyone should). Spoiler: most teams are overcomplicating it.  🚫 1. "Generative AI is smart." Nope. AI isn't thinking - it's predicting. It doesn't know things; it just finds the most probable next word based on what you feed it. Give it bad inputs, and get bad outputs. Garbage in, garbage out.  🚫 2. "AI will replace CX teams." Wrong again. AI isn't here to replace people - it's here to replace repetitive tasks. The best CX teams are using AI to handle the mundane, so humans can focus on the high-value, high-empathy work that AI can't do.  🚫 3. "More AI = better CX." Not necessarily. AI isn't a magic wand - it has to be implemented correctly. If it adds friction, creates robotic interactions, or frustrates customers, it's doing more harm than good.  🚫 4. "AI can handle any customer question." Only if it has the right data, structure, and oversight. AI isn't an oracle - it doesn't "know" your business unless you train it properly. No context? No good answers.  🚫 5. "AI-driven support means less human involvement." Actually, it often means more human involvement - just in better ways. AI still needs humans to train, fine-tune, and oversee its outputs. The best AI-powered CX teams don't go fully autonomous - they use AI as a force multiplier for their team.     🤖 AI can enhance your coaching—but it can’t replace conversation, context, or courage. Yes, it can analyze talk time, word choice, sentiment. It can spot when a rep speaks too much or avoids pricing. But here’s what AI can’t do: It can’t feel tension in a rep’s voice. It can’t notice a shift in posture during tough feedback. It can’t sit in silence when a rep says, “I don’t think I’m good enough anymore.” Let’s break it down. 🔎 Where AI helps: * Surfacing trends in talk tracks * Highlighting rep behavior patterns at scale * Speeding up feedback loops for repetitive issues Coach: “AI shows you’re avoiding direct language during budget talks. Let’s dissect that moment together.” But that’s just the first 10%. The rest is human coaching. 💬 Where AI hurts: * Coaching becomes transactional: “Fix the red box.” * Reps start performing for the tool instead of selling with intent * Emotional nuance is missed completely Coach: “The data says this deal is fine. But you sound checked out. What’s really going on?” 🧠 Framework to integrate AI into coaching without losing humanity: 1. Use AI to spot patterns—not as the final answer 2. Ground every insight in a real conversation 3. Prioritize emotion, energy, and context over checklists 4. Ask better questions, not just provide faster answers Coach: “Why do you think you drop confidence in second meetings?” Rep: “That’s where I start questioning myself.” Coach: “That’s not a scripting issue. That’s an identity edge we’re going to strengthen.” AI doesn’t build trust. It doesn’t challenge limiting beliefs. It doesn’t remind someone who they are when they forget.     3 GenAI myths that make people talking about LLMs sound ignorant: ❌LLMs do a few things badly, therefore they don’t do anything well. LLMs don’t do a lot of things well, but so does a hammer. Hammers won’t help you paint or sand a table top. As more products come to market, LLMs are proving themselves capable of resource orchestration, intent detection, and document retrieval. ❌ChatGPT can’t do it, so no GenAI tools can. No one LLM is the best at everything…yet. LLMs are increasingly specialized, so it’s important to evaluate multiple models before discarding a use case as infeasible. ❌LLMs are only chat bots and there’s no way to manage hallucinations. A few AI platforms have successfully managed hallucinations. NotebookLM is a good example of a GenAI product that’s not perfect, but is reliable enough to integrate into products. Bonus myth: The myth of expertise. LLM training processes and architecture are well understood. However, there are still gaps in our understanding of trained models. Validation and explainability are critical. LLMs require new types of testing to measure reliability, not just functionality. Don’t use any LLM-supported tools that can’t explain their output unless an expert is at the wheel. #ArtificialIntelligence #LLMs
