The Future of 3D Worlds is Here: World Labs AI Breaks Ground A year ago, tools like #BlockadeLabs amazed us with their ability to generate 360° equirectangular projections through text prompts, suitable for #videogames and #xr skyboxes (they’ve advanced considerably, and are one of a few GenAI companies I know that offer layers in creation and editing). As I marveled at that innovation, I thought, “Someday, this will evolve into fully #volumetric, #6DoF (six degrees of freedom) worlds.” I assumed we were at least 5–10 years away from that. Turns out, I was wildly wrong. Yesterday, #WorldLabsAI dropped a beta video that sent shockwaves through the #creative tech community. What they've achieved is nothing short of revolutionary. Imagine not just generating 2D images or #stereoscopic (3D depth from a fixed position) environments, but creating #interactive, #volumetric worlds you can move through. Yes, it’s still in beta, and yes, there are challenges like pixelization and smearing, but those are hurdles that technology always leaps over faster than we expect. Why This Matters: From ChatGPT to Creative Disruption Just two years ago, #ChatGPT redefined #AI accessibility, and now World Labs AI could do the same for creatives across industries like video games, #animation, #XR, and #VFX. Its impact may rival ChatGPT’s—but for a more specialized audience. Key innovations include: #Keyframe Precision: Creators can define camera movements on a spline path with intuitive controls directly in the #LDM 3D environment, skipping costly trial-and-error workflows. Interactive Exploration: With a Bluetooth controller (like PlayStation’s), users can navigate the space and control the camera, foreshadowing the possibility of XR headset integration and even real-time game map creation for infinite open worlds. Physics in Beta: Early demos show #interactive elements like picking up items—hinting at a future where AI can handle both world-building and #interactive mechanics. What’s Next? When World Labs AI becomes publicly available, expect a flood of experiments and uploads as creatives test its limits. The implications for studios are profound: why dedicate vast teams and resources to 3D production when a smaller team armed with AI can achieve similar—or better—results? Some studios may adapt, others will face hard decisions about how to leverage this groundbreaking tool, and scrappy new ones will be built from nothing into #franchises and #brands. Remember, we went from “same old, same old”, to earth-shattering changes across all horizontals and verticals in text, then images, then video, and to interactive worlds in only two years! Few are ready for the ever more radical transformations on the horizon, are you? * Want to stay ahead in the fast-evolving world where technology meets creative media? 3D world-building used to be a headache. Hours of modeling, texturing, and rendering. Now? You type a few words, and AI does the heavy lifting. Meet Intangible, the world’s first AI-native 3D platform that simplifies design in ways we never imagined: ↳ Generate and manipulate 3D environments using simple text prompts. ↳ A knowledge graph that actually understands human 3D concepts. ↳ AI agents that automate the most tedious workflows. Translation: It’s like ChatGPT for 3D design. And it’s no toy. Intangible was built by veterans from Apple, Pixar, and Unity—people who know 3D. They just raised $4M in seed funding from a16z speedrun, Crosslink Capital, and industry angels. Why is this a big deal? ↳ 3D world-building is about to get way faster and more accessible. ↳ The learning curve? Practically gone. ↳ Anyone—from game devs to marketers—can bring 3D ideas to life in minutes. AI reshaped writing, art, and video. Now it’s coming for 3D. This is Google's most disruptive creation yet: It builds complete 3D worlds from text in seconds. Google's Genie 2.0 is planning to transform content creation forever. Type "medieval castle floating by a glowing red moon" and walk through that exact world in stunning 3D reality. No coding. No design experience. No expensive software. For 30 years, creating 3D worlds meant: • Mastering complex technical tools • Dedicating years to learn the craft • Spending $1000s on professional software • Investing countless hours in manual design Genie 2.0 eliminates all of that. It uses advanced language models to understand spatial relationships and physics. More impressively, it translates abstract concepts like "cozy" or "mysterious" into detailed 3D environments. The technology works in three revolutionary phases: • Text Analysis: Converts descriptions into spatial blueprints • Scene Generation: Creates the core 3D framework • Detail Injection: Adds rich textures, lighting & interactivity But here's the game-changing part... The system understands context and function. Type "craftsman's workshop with working tools" and get an interactive space where every tool performs its real-world purpose. This opens up massive opportunities: • Game designers could prototype in minutes, not months • Teachers could recreate any historical period instantly • Real estate agents could generate virtual properties on demand • Storytellers could build limitless interactive worlds This is the smartphone moment for 3D creation. Just as mobile apps democratized software, this will democratize virtual worlds. We're about to witness an explosion of user-generated environments. The winners won't be technical artists. They'll be visionaries who can imagine compelling worlds. But here's the critical challenge: How do you actually harness this technology effectively? After helping 500+ creators adapt to new AI tools, I've learned: Success isn't about having cutting-edge technology. It's about having a systematic approach to using it. The creators who thrive share one crucial trait: They follow proven frameworks that help them: • Maintain consistent output • Scale operations efficiently • Master new tools rapidly This insight led us to build our 10-step AI workflow. It's helped creators achieve: • 75% faster content creation • 40% higher viewer retention • 2-3x channel growth within 6 months • Authentic voice preservation - If you enjoyed this post: ♻️ Reshare for others who might find it useful ➕ Follow me, Gil Hildebrand for more 💭 Share your thoughts below 👇 In case you didn't know, I am now building subscribr.ai!
