What is Quick Labs?
Quick Labs is a scientific incubator established to address the pressing demand for affordable, flexible lab space in the UK, specifically designed for early-stage, deep-tech start-ups and freelance scientists.
Founded in Yorkshire, Quick Labs supports scientific innovation by providing a unique daily rental model for equipped labs, with no long-term contracts, deposits, or notice periods. This approach allows researchers to quickly and affordably carry out proof-of-concept experiments, validate scientific ideas, and develop minimum viable products (MVPs).
Since its inception, Quick Labs has been heavily supported, driven by the UK’s shortage of lab space and the government’s aim to foster scientific superpower status by 2030.
Besides access to lab facilities Quick Labs offers the option to become a member providing essential resources for early-stage start-ups, including intellectual property support, business model development, pitch deck feedback, technology insights, grant writing assistance, and investment opportunities.

Leeds City Council’s Innovation@Leeds funding programme has selected Quick Labs to deliver a project that will directly support 10-15 businesses. By helping these companies develop sustainable technologies and secure funding, Quick Labs aims to strengthen Leeds' innovation ecosystem. Beneficiaries include SMEs, PhD and post-doctoral researchers, and early-stage entrepreneurs exploring scientific business ideas. They will all benefit from PR to promote their businesses.
This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Who can use Quick Labs

What equipment is available?
Our laboratory is fully equipped with a range of instruments to support a wide variety of research and testing needs. Rather than providing a fixed equipment list, we prefer to work based on your specific project requirements. Once we understand what you need, we’ll ensure the appropriate equipment and resources are in place. If any specialised or additional equipment is required beyond our in-house capabilities, we’re happy to arrange for it to be outsourced to support your research seamlessly

How much does it cost to rent laboratory space?
We do not have a fixed standard cost for lab rentals, as pricing depends on your specific experiment requirements and the equipment you need. We offer both Chemical and Biology lab spaces.
If your experiment requires equipment beyond what we currently have, we can arrange for it; any additional costs for such equipment will be added to your rental fee. Our labs are fully equipped with all essential facilities to support your research and experimentation needs.

How do I book laboratory space?
To book laboratory space, the first step is to get in touch with us. You’ll need to complete our assessment form, which helps us understand the nature of your research and ensure we can support your requirements effectively. Once your assessment has been reviewed, you can book laboratory space directly through the Quick Labs website or by contacting our team. After making the payment, you'll receive access to the booking form where you can enter your details and finalise the reservation.
Please allow at least 24 hours’ notice prior to your intended booking time. Alternatively, you can email us at [email protected] to start the process. It’s straightforward and requires no upfront commitment.

When can the lab be accessed?
You can access the laboratories any time between Monday and Friday, 9 am – 5 pm, excluding bank holidays.
