1. Home assignments. Complete prior to examination (100 points). (1) Shorinji Kempo is a discipline that develops individuals (25 points). (2) How to study the technical and philosophical teachings (25 points). (3) On shin, ki, ryoku (mind ki and strength) (25 points). (4) Maai and opportunity for attack and defence (25 points).

1. Kihon (50 points). (1) Offence techniques (10 points). Zenshin (moving forward): jun zuki, gyaku zuki, jo chu niren zuki, jo chu keri san ren ko, sashi komi mawashi geri, sashi kae sokuto geri. (2) Defence techniques (10 points). Dan uke (uwa uke and uchi uke or uchi age uke and uchi otoshi uke). Ren uke, harai uke, juji uke. (3) Umpo ho (10 points). Mae chidori ashi, ushiro chidori ashi, kani ashi, juji ashi, kumo ashi. (4) Ukemi (10 points). Dai sharin, mae ukemi, ushiro ukemi, oten yori okiagari. (5) Tanen kihon hokei (10points). Tenchi ken dai ikkei; Tenchi ken dai nikei; Giwa ken dai ikkei. 2. Selected techniques (100 points). Five goho and ve juho will chosen from all the techniques up to 2nd kyu 3. Kumi embu (100 points). (1) Tsubame gaeshi (6) Juji uke geri (2) Uchi uke geri (7) Kiri kaeshi nuki (katate) (3) Juji nuki (katate) (8) Kiri gote (katate) (4) Juji gote (katate) (9) Shita uke jun geri (5) Han tenshin geri (sango ken) (10) Tsuki ten ichi 4. Application (100 points). (1) Goho (50 points). Examinees determine the roles of attacker and defender. Attacker performs single or continuous attacks of tsuki or keri. The defender is allowed to perform counter attacks. (2) Juho (50 points). Examinees determine the roles of attacker and defender. The attacker grabs the defenders wrists with katate, ryote or morote. The defender uses nuki or gyaku waza.
