Todays world is increasingly globalized, and this means that many of us are interacting in other cultures. The importance of learning a second language becomes self-evident. Learning a second language helps you to communicate across cultures. Additionally, scientific studies have shown that learning a second language improves brain functions and stimulates creativity. Knowing a new language starts to stimulate brain connections that havent happened before because every language approaches the world in a slightly different way. It gives to second language speaker to understand the world from a different perspective of another culture. In fact, english language learners continue growing rapidly than as student population as a whole. However they face many obstacles since an abundance of idioms and figurative language in English texts doesnt fit in their mother languages. Also, English language learners may be able to read the words but it doesn't mean they will understand the text. They are not aware of meaning of the information read. Nevertheless teachers know that every class includes diverse learners. Differentiated instruction adapts to support the needs of individual learners. Beside, teachers have to consider the different stages in the acquisition of a second language, as social and cultural. Most teachers have to adequate assessments based on techniques and not in standardized test, considering the strengths and weakness of students. In conclusion there are many ways of assessments but a good teacher must have to identify the best one in order to get the best results, taking into account what is normal and what is not, capable to design a gamma of assessments due to learners preferences, motivations, English proficiency level against them. and not biased
