What recent news story has affected you the most? In what ways has it affected you?

Use reasons and examples to support your response. Today we are surrounded by a tremendous amount of news which seem to travel with the speed of light. Some of the bits and pieces we find out about are sad, some are shocking, some inspiring and some not even worthy of one's attention. But, the world never stops to amaze us. A recent news story which has affected me the most is the story of a man's free fall from the edge of the space. The man in question is Felix Baumgartner who has shown that one must never give up on one's dreams and that there are no limits to human possibilities. Felix Baumgartner is a former soldier and a professional extreme athlete whose dream was to break three records. At the age of 41 the Austrian man still hasn't given up on his dreams but worked hard and diligently to fulfill them. He became the only man to achieve a supersonic skydive. Moreover, he jumped from a highest point ever to be jumped from, namely from 128000 feet which was appropriately named in the media as the ''edge of space''. Furthermore, he broke a third world record which is the highest free fall without a parachute. The whole remarkable event lasted for just a few hours. Thus, Felix has made his dreams come true by not giving up on them and has shown that one must never give up since in the end dreams can come true. Also, Felix has proven that there are no limits to human possibilities. As people before have conquered the land, the sea and the sky, so has Felix conquered the edge of space. He has shown that man is not a fragile being and that science can achieve the impossible and the outstanding. The fact that he has survived breaking the speed of sound in his supersonic skydive and that he managed to land safely after a free fall without a parachute from the edge of space testifies that humans can surpass countless boundaries. A true daredevil showed the world and the skeptics out there that there are no limits to humans as long as they keep challenging themselves. All in all, by making his wildest dreams come true and overcoming what were once thought as human limits, Felix has rekindled the hope in all of us that the impossible can become possible. We can achieve anything if we set our hearts and souls to it as Felix himself did.
