Write down angry thoughts Try not to fan your own fire Write it to the person you are angry with and tear it Challenge and reappraise them

PURPOSE : Recover from psychological arousal

Train yourself to keep a lid on angry feelings until calming down

Confront the situation/ person calmly Monitor the feelings and learn to use them as cues

Do not react impulsivel y Take some time out

What is happening What to do about it

PURPOSE : To stop and consider

Examples : Yoga, massage, meditation, running, dancing

Engage in activities that work off anger & feeling relaxed Relinquish your anger Do not brood; see things differently Reframe a situation

Become aware of what precipitates your anger Know the roots of your anger

PURPOSE : Can deal with it more constructively

Meet a professional counselor / therapist

Look at the situation from THE other persons view Interpret situation from less provocative perspective

Just let it go

Change the thoughts that trigger anger

PURPOSE : Produce new feelings which displace the anger
