ModelSim Installation Guide Ver2
The ModelSim installation executable is available on the course electronic Black Board Course Documents section 2. You will be asked to choose type of product to be installed. Choose "Full Product". 3. In order to use the product you have to read and accept EULA. Click "Yes" to accept and continue installation. 4. Chose destination folder and click "Next". 5. Choose program folder for the product and click "Next". 6. Once the software is done installing, you will be prompted to install a hardware security key driver. Choose "No" since you are obtaining the license from a server. 7. Chose if you would like a desktop shortcut added? "Yes" or "No" 8. Chose if you would like to add the Modelsim directory to your path variable. Select "Yes". This will make it easier to run Modelsim scripts or batch files. 9. Once the installation is complete, the License Wizard will start automatically. Click "Continue". 10. Specify the location of license file. Type "[email protected]" OK . into the location field and click Note: There is no need to download or create a separate license file, the port@hostname is sufficient. 11. The License Wizard should inform that you need to modify/add LM_LICENSE_FILE to the environmental variables. You can allow this to be done automatically by clicking "Yes". At this point there is no need to rerun the License Wizard. Modelsim should now be succesfully installed. Ignore any errors that are reported about the FLEX license by the License Wizard. If the environmental variable fails to be set, or you would like to set it manually, follow the direction below. To modify/add the LM_LICENSE_FILE manually follow these steps: a. For Windows NT/2000/XP, right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties, and then select the Environment tab (in Windows 2000/XP select the Advanced tab and then Environment Variables). Add LM_LICENSE_FILE with the value [email protected]. b. For Windows 98/Me, add the following line to the autoexec.bat file: Set [email protected]. Reboot your PC. 12. Click "OK" and "Close". 13. To start Modelsim use the Windows Start menu or desktop shortcut.
