Course Description: Physical Education curriculum is based on a sequence of experiences in a wide variety of developmentally appropriate learning activities beginning with basic movement concepts and progressing toward more complex skills, games and sports. Physical Education promotes lifelong wellness through an integration of personal and social skill development. It supports physical growth and development of all children while contributing to their general health and ability to learn. class. No sharing of lockers will be permitted. There is to be no running, cursing, fighting, and throwing of any objects, closing of anyone elses locker or misbehaving in the locker room. Valuables should NOT be kept in gym lockers. All students must remain in the gymnasium until the final bell.
CLASS PROCEDURES
Equipment set out in the gym is not to be touched by students until permission is given by the teacher(s) in charge. No student may leave the gym without permission from their teacher. When going out to the fields or coming back into the building, please be sure to avoid cars in the parking lot and do not disrupt any other classes. If you see something that does not look safe or if you have a question about something please be sure to bring it to your teachers attention. Students are required to dress in appropriate attire consisting of a T-shirt, athletic shorts or sweats and proper athletic footwear. Attire should be in good taste with no offensive or inappropriate sayings or symbols. Classes may be held outdoors. We will go to Kapaun fields or the school track/field. Be prepared daily with a jacket, sweatshirt and/or sweatpants Hats may not be worn during class. Any student who is unprepared will lose full credit for the day
ATTENDANCE Students must be in the locker room when the bell rings otherwise they will be marked late. Students are allotted a maximum of 5 minutes to change and will be marked late if he/she exceeds the time limit. MEDICAL
Medical Excuses must be documented by a physicians note. Any injuries or emergencies must be reported to the teacher during the class period so the proper action can be taken. Students who are medically excused will need to complete a written assignment during the period in order to receive credit. The assignment will be given to students by their assigned teacher.
General:
Maintaining the best possible condition of the gymnasium and equipment is the responsibility concerning all students and staff.
We must keep food and drinks (water allowed) out of the gym area, keep the rims, backboards, and nets intact, and use equipment for its intended purpose.
Student Evaluation: Grades are based on effort, involvement, cooperation, consideration, skill assessment, improvement, and meeting personal and social responsibilities. The grade breakdown is as follows:

Implementation Students must demonstrate positive displays of social and interpersonal skills such as honesty, courtesy, cooperation, good sportsmanship, and respect for themselves, others, equipment, as well as the importance of physical education. Students will be held accountable for their own work, actions, and behavior. They must exhibit the ability to work independently and remain on task. Students are required to be on time to class wearing the required attire as mentioned above. If a student attends PE without the required PE attire loss of credit will occur. If the student is unprepared and cannot participate they must make up the class at home by completing 30 minutes of physical activity. The student must turn in a written summary describing which activity(ies) they participated in and the duration of activity with a parent signature the next day to receive 75%credit for the day they were unprepared for class.
Quarterly Points 25
Students are assessed on a daily basis on overall physical and cognitive improvement. They will be evaluated and tested on their personal best performance and not measured against their peers. Points will be deducted if students are not improving due to lack of effort or poor attitude.

Students are expected to participate with maximum effort to the best of their ability. Loss of credit would include lack of effort during warm up, lesson focus and lesson activity. Pre fitness testing and post fitness testing will be conducted during the quarter. Grades are based on individual improvement, effort, participation, and compared to Fitnessgrams Healthy Fitness Zones.

Students will be assessed on their cognitive knowledge through the use of tests/quizzes, presentations, research, homework assignments etc. Additionally, students will also be evaluated on their skill application and strategy.
