Those Heroes That Shed Their Blood (Ataturk)

This speech honors soldiers from both sides who lost their lives fighting at Gallipoli during World War I. It says that the Turkish and foreign soldiers now rest together peacefully in the friendly soil of Turkey, having become sons of the land. The mothers of soldiers from far away should wipe away their tears, as their sons now live in peace in Turkey's bosom.

Those heroes that shed their blood

and lost their lives..

you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country.
Therefore rest in peace.
There is no difference between the Johnnies
and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side
here in this country of ours.
You the mothers
who sent their sons from far away countries
wipe away your tears.
Your sons are now living in our bosom
and are in peace.
Having lost their lives on this land they have
become our sons as well
