Classroom News: We had such a fun Halloween celebration last week! Thank you to the Nolan, Nellenbeck/Gilbert, Williams, and MacDerment families for sending in treats and supplies for the party! Thank you Mrs. MacDerment for spending the morning with us! It was so great to see so many family members at the parade as well. I also enjoyed meeting with so many of you during parent conferences. I look forward to meeting with the rest of you at the end of this month, which I'm sure will here before we know it! Report cards will go home next Friday. Time is flying! This week in language arts we will read a story called A Tall Tale . This is about the San Jacinto Monument in Texas. We already discussed that Texas was once part of Mexico, and this story will tell us more about how Texas gained its independence. We are working on identifying the main idea and details within nonfiction stories. In spelling we are working on long i spelled with i, ie, igh, or y. Please review the words on the back of the agenda for Friday's spelling test, including the challenge words. We are working on nonfiction writing this week. In math we are working on expanded notation, graphing, frames and arrows, and making change/counting money. We will continue to practice two-digit addition with carrying for morning work. Please keep practicing math facts at home. In science we will start our magnet unit. Don't forget there is no school next Monday for Veteran's Day. Have a wonderful week!
