Lab #04 555 Timer: Timers

The document discusses the 555 timer and its uses in generating accurate time intervals and oscillations. It describes the astable mode, where the circuit continuously switches between two states without input, acting as a free running multivibrator. Circuit diagrams and output waveforms are shown for the astable mode with a duty cycle both less than and equal to 50%.

Lab #04 555 Timer 555 Timers:

The 555 timer is a highly stable device for generating accurate time intervals or oscillation. The timer as well has two modes monostable and astable.

Astable Mode: In astable mode, the circuit is not stable in either of its two states, as it continually switches from one state to the other, without depending on a input. In this state it will act like a free running multivibrator; which is characterized by two amplifying devices cross-coupled by resistors or capacitors. Circuit Diagram:-

To make duty cycle less than 50%: For this just use an inverter at the output, so that output is on for lesser period of time.i.e clearly observed in the output waveform . Circuit Diagram:-
