Definition of Perception
 Perception is a unique interpretation of the
situation, not an actual recording of it.

 Perception is a very complex cognitive process that


yields a unique picture of the world, a picture may
be quite different from reality.

 Perception means, the process of attaining


knowledge, awareness and forming opinions based
on our knowledge and taking decisions.
Difference between You and Your Boss
 When you don't do it, you're lazy.
When your boss doesn't do it, he's too busy.
 When you make a mistake, you're an idiot.
When your boss makes a mistake, he's only human.
 When you please your boss, you're apple polishing.
When your boss pleases his boss, he's being co-operative
 When you're out of the office, you're wandering around.
When your boss is out of the office, he's on business.

 Tendency to perceive another person as a single

 Fixed rigid ideas

 Over simplification about a group or category of


people

 Not supported by reasonable evidence

 In halo effect the person is perceived on the basis of one trait
