Fact Sheet - Bar Lock

Bar Lock is a Soviet GCI radar and search system mounted on a trailer. It uses six stacked beams generated from two truncated parabolic reflectors with three feeds each. It has a range of about 450 km with 180 m range resolution and 2 degree beam width. The entire trailer housing the radar can rotate up to 6 RPM. Deployment and storage of the system takes approximately 60 minutes.

Descriptions
BAR LOCK is GCI radar and search system mounted in trailer with two truncated parabolic
reflectors having clipped corners. Each reflector has three feeds so that six stacked beams
are generated. Known as the Soviet P-50 radar, Bar Lock has a PRF of 375 pps with a pulse
width of 1.8 to 3.1 microseconds. Bar Lock frequencies in MHz are: 2695-2714, 2715-2750,
2815-2835, 2900-2990, 2990-3025 and 3080-3125. Deployed with a lower frequency
transmitter used for IFF, Bar Locks range has been estimated at some 300 km with an
accuracy of about 100 meters and an angular accuracy of about 0.5 degree. The entire
trailer rotates at rates up to 12 revolutions per minute (RPM).
Bar Lock has been operational with Soviet forces for some time and also in use by Warsaw
Pact forces in Eastern Europe.
Back Net is similar to Bar Lock and is considered to be its predecessor.
