Texas History This course is focused on Texas history. Students learn the history of
the State of Texas beginning with the Native tribes that populated the region before the
Age of Columbus and continues through Spanish and rench exploration and
Con!uest" #exican independence" Texas $ndependence" statehood in the %nited States
of America" Confederate States of America" and finally &econstruction bac' into the %S
and up into the present day.
History Alive( The %nited States Through #odern Times captures the story of the %nited
States from the pre)colonial era to the *+st century. This course also introduces
students to historical in!uiry as a discipline. They read primary documents and begin
constructing historical arguments through the writing process.

#y primary goal is for each student to leave my classroom with a greater understanding
of history and its lasting impact on civili,ation. $ hope that this course will allow you to
become an active and engaged responsible citi,en with respect for the past and
optimism for the future.
