Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. John Dewey

About 7
th
Grade Math:
7
th
grade math includes pre-algebra and algebra, laying down the fundamentals of concepts to
apply them in practical situations beyond the walls of the classroom. Common Core State Standards
have set the standards for the students to be able to reach such a goal. They were designed to help
students learn with the mindset that critical-thinking and understanding the WHY? are critical life
skills to develop.

Always Remember:
RESPECT
o The property of self and others
o The thoughts and opinions of
others
o The people in our classroom
o The subject matter and activities
o Due dates for assignments
o Others by using appropriate
language, tone and volume

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
o For your actions
o For your assignments
o For yourself
o By being proactive and preparing
yourself for class
o By arriving on time to class
o By asking for help when you do not
understand concepts

We will be completing our homework
online for Digits, however, I am still
requiring the students to show their
written work on a piece of loose-leaf or in
their notebook.

Grades:
Grades can be checked daily online on PowerSchool
Total grades will be computed through a points system
and will not be weighted.
o Warm-ups or Bell Ringers will count for 4
points each day.
o Homework will count for 2-4 completion points
per assignment depending on the work needed.
o Tests and Quizzes will be worth 40+ points
depending on the problems.

Excused / Absent Work
It is your responsibility to check to see what you missed. You can do this by looking in the While
You Were Out bin at the front of the room.
o You will need to get the notes from a peer and make sure to complete the assigned
homework.
o You will be given two days to complete the work for every one day you are absent. If you
are absent for a long period of time, there is a chance you will need to see me before, at
lunch, or after school for me to teach you the material.
o If you are absent ONLY on the day of the review before a test or quiz, you will be given a
review day when you return and will take the quiz the following day (Might not be during
class).
o If you are absent ONLY on the day of a test or quiz, you will be expected to take the test
or quiz the day you return (Might not be during class).
